The UN, Trump’s Cabinet, and the Assassination of a Key Hamas Operative

Hi friends!  I’ve kept a close eye on the news over the past few days, given the vulnerability of Damascus and the Russian-Iranian coalition building stronger every day.  Those things, of course, are related to the prophecies found in Isaiah 17:1 and Ezekiel 38-39.  As close as we are to fulfillment of those prophecies leads me to believe we are living in the last hours of the last days.  Maranatha…Lord come quickly!

I want to share a few significant news stories I ran across recently:

  • Hamas operative assassinated by Mossad.  According to Jewish and Arab reports,  Mohhamed Zawari, an acclaimed aviation engineer credited with innovative drone technology, was shot multiple times while in his vehicle.  Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, Mossad, is said to have carrier out the assassination. Israel has stated they will go to every degree necessary to protect the people in the land of Israel.
  • Trump chooses David Friedman as ambassador to Israel.  Benjamin Netanyahu must be very satisfied with the way Trump’s cabinet and other appointments are shaping up, as so far Trump’s picks seem to be very pro-Israel.  David Friedman is an American Jew who questions whether or not a two state solution is realistic, and who vows with fervency to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. What greater evidence of US support of Israel than to move the embassy to Jerusalem where it belongs.  (Trump himself has also stated that the move is a priority for him.)
  • Most shockingly, this headline: UN chief recognizes UN bias against Israel. Though the admission is positively shocking, it comes from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon who has only a few days left at the helm of one of the most anti-Israel organizations on earth.  He acknowledged that “Decades of political maneuverings have created a disproportionate volume of resolutions, reports and conferences criticizing Israel.” Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, had this to say:

“The Secretary General admitted the clear truth, the UN’s hypocrisy towards Israel has broken records over the past decade.During this time the UN passed 223 resolutions condemning Israel while only eight resolutions condemning the Syrian regime as it has massacred its citizens over the past six years.  This is absurd.  With a new Secretary General set to take office next month, we look forward to the possibility of a new era of fairness at the UN.”

We live in very interesting times.  I see glimpses of positive news in some of those reports. However, we must realize and understand that we live in a world that continues to spin uncontrollably toward immorality and godlessness.  Yes, praise God it appears Donald Trump is making selections of key people in his administration who will support Israel. But, we must never cease praying for our nation, our President, Israel and her leaders, and world leaders.  Join in the battle, friends!  Let’s be found faithful…and let’s pray that what appears to be good news on some fronts is truly blessing from the Lord.

PS: We launch into our final week of study together in Why Israel Matters: Rightly Relating to our Jewish Roots.  Stick around over the next few days as we wrap it up with a bang!
