For those of us who support Israel and who love our own country, this is a big week!
First, there are very important primary elections in five key states tomorrow. Voters in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio will go to the polls; and in Florida, Missouri, and Ohio it is “winner take all.” (Meaning the number of delegates will not be split according to how each candidate places, but will all go to the candidate who garners the most votes in each party.)
Why does that matter? On the Democratic side, if Hillary Clinton has a good day, she will be well on her way to the nomination. Though unlikely, should Bernie Sanders triumph in “winner take all” states, the Democratic race becomes very interesting. On the Republican side, a Donald Trump victory in “WTA” states will push him to an almost certain nomination. Any number of other scenarios could further split the delegates between the other candidates, and may very well end the campaign of any non-frontrunner who fails to pick up considerable delegates.
I hope you will pray for voters in those states. In terms of American support of Israel, there are only two remaining candidates who have strong records and strong plans for American-Israeli relations. (See Who is Prepared to Stand with Israel?)
Along the same lines, on Thursday (March 18), Franklin Graham’s Decision America Tour 2016 will make its stop in Arizona. Let’s gather at the State Capitol in Phoenix at 12:00 noon to join Franklin Graham and thousands of others as we commit as Christians to live out our faith at home, in public, and at the ballot box. We (Arizonans) have our opportunity to vote our values next Tuesday, March 22 and I so desire that we will uphold Godly standards as we make our choices at the ballot box. (If Arizona is not your home, will you be kind enough to pray for us?)
Finally, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference begins early next week in Washington DC. AIPAC is the largest pro-Israel coalition in America and is a powerful lobbying group. The conference will be attended by over 18,000 and will be addressed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Paul Ryan and other key members of Congress, and most of the current presidential candidates.
I am privileged to be one of 30 Arizona delegates to attend the AIPAC Policy Conference. On Tuesday, March 22, we have an appointment to lobby Arizona’s Senators and Representatives on behalf of Israeli interests. Please pray that we will be gracious, yet straight-forward as we exhort our Congressmen to stand strong in support of Israel in specific initiatives.
These are crucial times, not only in American history, but also in prophetic end times. As we see the world turn more and more against Israel, as we see morals and Christian values vanish, and as we see people become more and more “lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:2-4), we know that the rapture is near!
These are days of prayer, and I hope you will remain faithful to the call! If not now, when?
