Forget Republican/Democrat…King Jesus Still Sits on the Throne!

“Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote…that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country.”
~ Samuel Adams, Founding Father, United States of America

How I praise God for His great blessing upon America.  In many countries around the world, citizens cannot elect their own leaders, but are forced to live in the tyranny of evil dictators.  We are greatly blessed, but are most definitely accountable to God in how we vote and how we govern.  I hope you fulfilled your God-given privilege of voting.

Having said that, the election is now over.  Citizens across our great nation have spoken via their vote, and our elected leaders now have the sobering responsibility to govern in a way pleasing to the Lord.  It is our responsibility to pray for them.

Whether our favored candidates won or lost, our hope is not in a Congressman, a Governor or any other elected official.  Our hope is the Blessed Hope…and our “voting district” is ultimately our heavenly home.  Democrats and Republicans may battle over earthy power, but King Jesus still reigns overall!  Therefore, we can say, “It is well with my soul!”

(Recorded at the Tower of David, where King David himself also bowed to our Lord in worship.)

“The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
~ Proverbs 21:1

Reflections on 2016

What a year!  Despite so much chaos in our world, there is so much for which to be thankful.  Tomorrow we’ll look toward 2017, but today let’s reflect on 2016.

January:

  • We began the year asking questions such as: Are we sleeping? and Is there Hope for America?  While I believe many churches are asleep at the wheel, I rejoice with the multitudes of Christians who are awakened to the fact that our Messiah is coming soon.
  • In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27), we commemorated the 6 million Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust.

In addition to all of the above, we joined in the Isaiah 62 Prayer Initiative, Franklin Graham’s Decision America Tour, and a call to prayer by Anne Graham Lotz.  We deferred to Middle East experts such as Amir Tsarfati and Joel Rosenberg, and we took in Word from Jerusalem each month.

Yes, it was a chaotic year in terms of world events and American elections.  But spending time with each of you around the study table, and in discussion of world events in light of Bible prophecy has been a highlight of the year!  Thanks to all of you who have faithfully followed, and to those of you who occasionally catch a post now and then.  To fulfill God’s call for now, and to have others on the journey with me is very gratifying.

Thanks for following, and I look forward to journeying with you in 2017.  Come back tomorrow as I look ahead to the new year.

Join Franklin Graham for a Live Online Prayer Event on Thursday

As you probably know, Franklin Graham has traveled to every state in America, leading people in earnest prayer for our nation.  No one has to tell you that America is in a mess and this election season is a microcosm of the tailspin our nation is experiencing.

Therefore, Franklin is inviting us all to join him for the 50th prayer rally, to be held tomorrow (Thursday, 10/13/2016).  He will appear live on his Facebook page at 11:55 am Eastern time (8:55 am in Phoenix).  Please join with thousands in prayer at the foot of the cross of Jesus, our only hope.

Sharing My Thoughts

Friends, it is no secret that there is no appropriate choice for president if, as Christians, we wish to vote for a candidate with any sense of morals, conservative values or integrity.  Regardless of who we vote for, we will have a president void of any sort of character that we value.

However, this remains perhaps the most important election in our lifetime…if not in the history of the US.  It is tremendously important that you exercise your privilege as an American and vote.  Consider this:

  • The next president will appoint at least one, and potentially as many as four, Supreme Court justices.  This will set the course of our nation for half a century or more.  Should the Supreme Court become any more liberal, all vestiges of religious freedom will be gone.  Morality will be legislated from the bench (ie – “anything goes”), rights of the unborn will be lost forever, Biblical teachings on morality will be considered hate speech (resulting in possible prison sentences), sexual perverts will have free reign in restrooms and other private spaces with our children, and many more atrocities.  A decision not to vote is a “yes” vote for the liberal agenda.
  • Many other elected positions are at stake.  If we neglect to vote, it is a “yes” vote for liberal politicians seeking elected positions at all levels.  The presidential race is not the only one on the ballot.
  • There are vitally important initiatives on most state ballots.  Here in Arizona, we are voting on whether or not to legalize recreational marijuana.  If we choose not to go to the polls, we are saying “yes” to increased crime, spiking addiction rates, candy laced with high-potency THC that kids cannot discern as drugs, and more. (Please read this information before voting on this issue in Arizona.)

These, and many other reasons, make this an extremely important election.  Your vote is important.  Unfortunately, we must ignore names on the ballot in key races (including president) and vote according to the party platform that provides the best possible chance of maintaining morality and religious freedom.

Christian friends, please read these articles before voting:

Your mail-in ballots are likely in your mailbox or on their way right now.  Please vote your values and protect our religious freedom!

PS: What does this have to do with Israel?  A lot.  Should America implode (as it will eventually), it will complete the process of abdicating all responsibility to stand with Israel.  In a sense, that is “good news” for those of us who know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  The Bible says that Jesus will snatch us out of here (rapture) and we will be with Him.  However, Israel will stand completely alone in the very last days.  Let’s be faithful to Israel for every single second we have left on this earth…whether few or many!

Decision America Tour Final Stops: Maryland,Virginia, North Carolina

UPDATE: Sundown tonight marks the beginning of Yom Kippur, the most solemn of all Jewish high holidays.  I have discussed the significance of Yom Kippur HERE and HERE, so check out one or both after you have joined thousands of other Decision America prayer warriors in petition before God on behalf of our nation!

Heading for home as the election draws near!  This week’s stops are the final ones of the Decision America Tour.  Franklin Graham has led us on a prayer journey to every state capital in America.  I hope you attended the prayer rally at your capital when he visited your state.  Beyond that, however, I hope you have been a faithful prayer warrior throughout the tour of every state.  Your prayers matter!  They have been powerful…and will continue to be.  Please don’t stop simply because the tour ends.  We need prayer more now than at any other time in this election season.  Dozens of Bible passages exhort us to pray often and regularly, so let’s do as our Master commands!

This is the homestretch, and Franklin Graham will make stops in Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina.  Let’s join him in this prayer effort.

Tuesday, October 11, 2016: Annapolis, Maryland

  • 54% of Marylanders believe that good works will get you to heaven.
  • Only 7% of young adults (ages 18-30) are practicing Christians.
  • Maryland has the nation’s highest rate of death for those diagnosed with HIV.

“Dear Jesus, we come in petition for the state and the citizens of Maryland.  We love them and thank You for them, but we also lift up their needs to You.  We are grieved by the death rate due to a disease that arose out of sinfulness.  While we understand that not everyone with HIV has it because of sin in their lives, it is a result of sin in the world and is a staggering reminder of what sin does.  So Lord, we plead Your mercy on those diagnosed with HIV.  May Your mercy bring them to the foot of the cross for grace and eternal healing.  We also pray for those who are misguided by false teaching that leads them to believe that good works will get them to heaven.  That is the mantra of every false religion, so we pray that the truth of Your Word will prevail.  Bless the 7% of young people in Maryland who follow You.  Lord, we pray blessings upon blessings for them and ask  You to grow them up to be influential leaders, strong in their faith.  Meanwhile, please light revival fire in Maryland.  We would love to see young and old alike come to the realization of their need for a Savior.  Do a work in Maryland such has never been seen before.”

Wednesday, October 12, 2016: Richmond, Virginia

  • Nearly 25% of Virginians haven’t been to church in the last 6 months.
  • The state ranks in the nation’s Top 10 for residents who donate to churches and nonprofits.
  • While Virginia is home to five of America’s 10 wealthiest counties, 1 in 3 children live in poverty or near-poverty.

“God bless Virginia!  Praise You, Lord, for the generous nature of Virginians.  We know You bless those who follow Your command to give to those in need, so we ask Your abundant blessings upon them.  Use their gifts to multiply the impact to those in need.  Meanwhile, we recognize those Virginians in need, particularly the children who live in poverty.  We pray You will direct resources to the young and provide opportunity for them to become valuable citizens in their communities as they grow up.  For those who have not darkened the doors of a church, Father, we pray they will be drawn to seek out Your grace and mercy in a local Bible-teaching, Bible-believing congregation.  Virginia, like all other states, needs a spark, Father, and we pray You will provide one, and the means in which to stoke the fires of revival.  Do what only You can do, and do it in Virginia!”

Thursday, October 13, 2016: Raleigh, North Carolina

  • Nearly 1 in 3 North Carolinians have never been to church or no longer go to church.
  • Over 40% of North Carolinians believe good works will get you into heaven.
  • 57% of voters under the age of 45 support same-sex marriage.

“First, Lord, we offer thanksgiving for your servant, Franklin Graham, as he returns to his home state to complete the Decision America Tour.  You have blessed America with the ongoing legacy of the Graham family and we pray that You will continue to grant Franklin Graham and the rest of his extended family as they faithfully minister the truth of Your Word and exhort others to do likewise.  What an honor it would be for revival to start in the state of North Carolina, the home state of such a great spiritual legacy.  Despite the “Graham influence,” however, many in North Carolina have not followed the lead.  Please deliver truth in a very powerful way to those who turn Scriptural principles upside-down in their belief that same-sex marriage is anything but immoral.  Bring truth to that situation across our land.  Lord, we pray, also, that those who do not attend church and those who believe good works will get them to heaven will come face-to-face with the truth of Your Word.  Whether through the testimony of believers, through supernatural revelation or otherwise, Father, we pray that Your Word will prevail.  Give them truth, and open the eyes of people everywhere to see it and understand it.  Revival, Lord….that is our prayer.  Use every state in the union to bring it about.  May every Christian do his/her part.  May every church be committed to teaching Your Word accurately and boldly.  And may God once again bless the United States with grace and mercy as we turn to You.”

PS: We’ll jump back into the Why Israel Matters study tomorrow, so stop by and join us!
