If you have hung in here over the past two days, congratulations on weathering the storm of our mini-series called It Needs to be Said! We’ll end the mini-series with this post, focusing solely on the Biblical truth of God’s faithfulness to both Israel and to us as believers. If you’re the easily offended type, please understand nothing here is personal toward you! You may disagree and that’s okay! Hang on, here we go…
Church, wake up…there is a firestorm happening!
There is false teaching taking the church by storm that has the potential to split the church wide open. I’m talking about Replacement Theology, the theory that says God has given up on Israel and the Jewish people because they denied Jesus as the Messiah. The punishment: all God’s promises made to Israel have now been transferred to the church, the “new Israel.”
Those who hold to Replacement Theology typically pull a verse from here and a verse from there to weave together an elaborate tale of how God somehow transferred His promises to the church WITHOUT breaking His everlasting covenant with Abraham! That preposterous theory falls apart quickly when you consider God’s Word as a whole and you read those passages in context. For example, Romans 11 becomes total nonsense if the church replaces Israel.
We’ve focused on the covenants a lot on this blog…and I’m sure we will return to them from time to time. Better still, study them for yourself and discover that when God makes a promise, He keeps it! (Hebrews 6:13-18) For believers in Jesus Christ, that is absolutely crucial. Why? Because if God does not keep His promises to Israel, why would we trust Him to keep His promises to us? God’s faithfulness to Israel is, indeed, His guarantee of faithfulness to us!
Amir Tsarfati lays out the claim very succinctly in this new 10-minute video:
Believers, the firestorm is not on the horizon, it is in our churches today…and it is dangerous. No, you won’t lose your salvation over this issue. However, if you don’t understand the issue, you will never understand the roots of your Christian faith, nor will you find total confidence in the One who can never lie!
