I love seeing the US stand side-by-side militarily with Israel, don’t you!
The US stationed a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) unit at Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel and will spend a month participating in joint drills with the IDF.
Though the drills and deployment are not related to any specific threat, an IDF official said:
“The purpose of the deployment is to practice rapid deployment across the globe of complex systems, and to enhance cooperation with the IAF’s air defense systems… The IDF is working in cooperation with US forces in order to enhance coordination between the two militaries and to strengthen the ability to defend Israeli airspace. The IDF is grateful for this exercise and stands ready to protect Israel’s airspace and civilians against a variety of threats from near and far.”
I’m especially grateful that, at least for now, the US stands strong with Israel. Joel 3:1-2 tells us very clearly that God will gather the nations in the Valley of Jehoshaphat where He will judge them according to how they treated His chosen people, and whether or not they divided up the land.
That’s an equation in which we definitely want to be on the right side! Pray for our nation’s leaders to remain committed to stand with Israel. One day, every nation, including the United States, will abandon Israel. May it not happen on our watch! Be strong, believing friends…and pray for our leaders!
