Gaza Continues to be a Hotbed for Terrorists

Terrorist activity in and around the Gaza Strip seems to have no end.  In the recent past, Hamas operatives in Gaza posed as medical patients in order to infiltrate Israel, while a Gazan terror tunnel into Israel collapsed, killing 7.  Hamas’ military wing, Izzadin Kassam, has been aggressively renovating the terror tunnels that were destroyed by the IDF in late-summer 2014.

Despite financial assistance from Iran and Hezbollah in re-building the tunnels, little is done to curb those efforts or to take action against terrorist regimes.  However, in a very unusual move, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon criticized Hamas for rebuilding the tunnels.  Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded:

“We are working methodically and calmly against all threats, including threats from Hamas, both with defensive and offensive measures. And of course, in the event we are attacked from tunnels in the Gaza Strip, we will act very forcefully against Hamas, and with much more force than Operation Protective Edge.”

Israel lives under constant threat from every direction, including within her own borders.  While the world takes little or no action, and demands no accountability of violent jihadist, Israel is blamed for inciting violence.

We live in a mixed up world.  In the words of the prophet Isaiah:

Woe to those who call evil good
    and good evil,
who put darkness for light
    and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
    and sweet for bitter!
~Isaiah 5:20

In our world today, it seems that evil continually gets the upper hand.  It is hard to imagine what it must be like to live under constant threat of evil, and disparaged by the world.  In the end, the Bible indicates that Israel will stand alone as a nation.  As individual believers, let’s buck that trend!
