In a world full of “social influencers,” who (or what) are we following? Here is some food for thought:
Indeed, it is so easy to jump on bandwagons and follow the “big names” on social media. Whether far left wing, moderates, right wing or conservative, our human nature tends to cling to whatever flavor of popularity suits our interests.
But I wonder…are we spending as much time in God’s Word and in scripturally sound, edifying conversations as we spend listening to podcasts of our favorite political pundits?
The point has been made clearly on this site that God intends for us to live out our Christian lives in EVERY area of life, including civic engagement. So the point is not to discourage anyone from exercising their God-given right to fully participate in the civic arena. But the question is: Upon what foundation do we engage in anything, including politics? If we are taking our cues solely from “influencers” rather than from God’s Word, perhaps we need to re-examine our priorities.
Friends, as believers, I hope we are building our lives upon the Solid Rock of Jesus through the reading of God’s Word. We desperately need leaders grounded in truth, whether at home, in church, on the job, or in politics.
9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.
~2 Chronicles 16:9
When the eyes of the Lord find you, will you be seen as one whose heart is loyal to Him? I pray that is true of us all!
