Prelude to Babylon 2.0

Study friends, find a comfy place on the sofa in our virtual living room and let’s consider the reality of our nation today and God’s call to us. Can You Hear Me Now? is a mini-series considering the events of our day in light of God’s Word. This is the third part of the series, but the first two are found here and here. Let’s get going!

Throughout history, God, often through His prophets, gave warning to His chosen ones…both Israel and Christians. Throughout the books of Judges, we see a pattern of Israelites turning from their God, suffering the consequences, eventually seeking mercy, repenting and returning to the Lord. God is still awaiting repentance and return of modern day Israel, which will come, but at high cost.

When God established America on Christian principles over two centuries ago, His desire was for us was the same as His desire for Israel: that we would honor Him. Instead, particularly in recent decades, we have shaken our fists at God. We have kicked God out of every public institution imaginable, called virtually every form of immorality good, and murdered over 62 million babies. Over the past year, we have seen the unchecked advancement of lawlessness like never before as law enforcement disappeared in the midst of riots, damaging lies were perpetuated, vengeance was exacted and dishonesty was exalted, even by the highest officials in our land.

America, once regarded as the “last best hope,” and certainly the last bastion of defense against the rise of a New World Order and globalist agenda, seems now only a broken down picket fence.

Isaiah 59:14 (NLT) seems to sum up the state of our nation today:

Our courts oppose the righteous,
and justice is nowhere to be found.
Truth stumbles in the streets,
    and honesty has been outlawed.

Heads up friends…it will get worse! Our world and our nation are hurtling headlong toward Babylon 2.0…or what the Bible calls “Mystery Babylon” in Revelation. It is the tribulation, ruled by the Antichrist, and the trial that will ultimately lead to Israel’s full repentance and return to God. Today, the stage is all but set and our world is ripe for the grand entrance of that evil one.

But, I love the prophets of God Word, don’t you! Intermingled with harsh warnings of difficult times to come are words of great exhortation for people and nations to repent and return to God. Isaiah was sent by God to warn Israel of a time they would be taken captive by Babylon. But jump into the middle of Isaiah 51 (NLT):

12 “I, yes I, am the one who comforts you.
So why are you afraid of mere humans,
who wither like the grass and disappear?
13 Yet you have forgotten the Lord, your Creator,
the one who stretched out the sky like a canopy
and laid the foundations of the earth.

Yes, those of us who know Him need not be afraid of the coming Babylon 2.0! What can mere mortals do to us? We have great hope because the One who stretched out the sky like a canopy and laid the foundations of the earth is He who looks over us and sustains us. Our world may shake, but we will not be shaken!

As we enter what could be a very tumultuous week, let’s kick it off with this encouraging promise:

37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

~Romans 8:37-39

In the midst of it all, be encouraged, and invite others to join us. See you right back here tomorrow to discus The Trump Card.
