Israel Strikes Iranian Targets in Syria

As the world took a collective deep breath to celebrate Christmas, Israel took aim at Iranian positions in Syria. Specifically, the elite Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corp was targeted on Christmas Eve by IAF fighter jets in the area of Hama province. The targets are believed to have included a missile silo, a weapons depot and a military research center.

The attack is thought to have happened from Lebanese airspace near Beirut, and at least 6 Iranian-backed fighters lost their lives.

This action follows previous action in which Iranian forces fired missile at the US embassy in Iraq, drawing the ire of President Trump. Despite the failure of many rockets, preventing significant damage to life and property, President Trump tweeted this warning, aimed at Iranian leadership:

Dear friends, that is a stern warning. Though the winds of war continue to swirl, and chaos in our country continues to ebb, be reminded of this:

I will raise my eyes to the mountains;
From where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who watches over you will not slumber.
Behold, He who watches over Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your protector;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not beat down on you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time and forever.

~Psalm 121

God made these promises to Israel, and to them He will fulfill them. However, a principle applies to those of us who know Jesus as Lord and Savior: the reach of His mercy, grace, favor and protection extends to us as well. That is reason to rejoice!
