In yet another dark 2020 moment, we learned of an explosion in Nashville TN on Christmas morning. The fantastic men and women in blue (police and other emergency personnel) responded rapidly and courageously, as they seem to always do (when allowed to do their duty).
In a heinous attack, now being labeled as domestic terrorism, a “lone wolf” planned and executed a bombing in front of a large AT&T building in Nashville. Thankfully, only a few were injured, and only the terrorist himself was killed in the suicide mission in which a powerful explosive device damaged at least two dozen buildings in downtown Nashville.
This is but another example of lawlessness described in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 and difficult times described in 2 Timothy 3:1-5. The reality is this world is filled with evil intent. But be reminded, Ephesians 6:12 clearly identifies the enemy:
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Indeed, we battle against spiritual forces that require spiritual warfare. The full passage (Ephesians 6:10-17) describes how that battle is fought! So, you have homework today!
- Read through the entire passage (Ephesians 10-17) slowly 2-3 times
- Meditate on each piece of armor God has given us to engage in spiritual battle
- Commit to put on your armor each day in order to do battle
- “Put on” the armor by praying through the passage.
Believer, is you believe the battle has nothing to do with you, be prepared for “surprise attacks!” We are living in the last days and we must be warriors for righteousness.
Our time on this earth is limited. In fact, in John 14:1-3, Jesus Himself told us He was going away, but will return to snatch us out of this earthly existence into the place He is preparing for us right now! That time is coming soon. But until it occurs, we are to be found faithfully doing His business and fighting for righteousness! Do not grow weary, dear friends!
