Happy Lord’s Day, my friends!
Sunday is usually a day I share good news and encouragement, and I want to continue that in an odd way today. This past week, Israel commemorated Yom HaZikaron, similar to Memorial Day in America. Israelis have a special way of remembering Holocaust victims (which they did last week during Yom HaShoah) and their fallen heroes who have given it all in order to realize their 2000-year-old dream.
Below is video footage of what happens during moments Israel literally stops to commemorate their fallen. Yes, it is sobering and contemplative, but I want you to notice something interesting as you watch the 30-second clip. What else do you hear, other than the siren?
The birds are signing, and beyond the blaring siren, it is peaceful. That is common in Israel! There is a peace that is difficult to describe and impossible to understand, given the neighborhood in which Israel resides.
So, amidst the deafening reminder of the lives lost, there is also the peaceful stillness of God, beckoning them to enter His rest! Oh, that their eyes would be open to recognize the Messiah, the Prince of Peace, who offers them peace that only He can give. They stop for 2 minutes to honor the fallen. Today, will you stop for 2 minutes to pray for the veil to be lifted from the eyes of our Jewish friends?
Wow. This is amazingly respectful and touching.
Yes….I agree. Israelis are incredibly respectful of those who have fallen and of those who are serving. They understand the price that has been paid for their existence.
Thanks for the comment…and have a blessed day!
God bless you, too!
