How Many Followers of Jesus are there in the Middle East?

Despite the chaos in the Middle East…or perhaps because of it…the Holy Spirit is moving, drawing Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, Syrians, Iraqis and others to Himself.  However, with persecution of Christians more widespread than ever, many have either perished over the past few years, or have fled the country.

With all that is going on in the Middle East, it is difficult to get accurate numbers.  But, if anyone has the connections to be able to assess the growth of Christianity in that chaotic area, it is Joel Rosenberg.  A significant part of the ministry he operates (The Joshua Fund) is to train and encourage pastors throughout the Middle East.

So, based on conservative estimates gained through careful research, The Joshua Fund estimates about 25,000-30,000 believers attend Messianic congregations in Israel.  Another 4,000-5,000 Arab evangelical Christians worship in Israel as well.  Encouraging, but nothing compared to the revival that will happen one day when “all Israel will be saved!”  (Romans 11:26)

Check back tomorrow for a special report on persecuted Christians in the Middle East.  Meanwhile, pray for the revival fire in the Middle East to ignite even greater.  May the eyes of Jews, Arabs, Palestinians and others be open to recognize the Prince of Peace!
