Syrian Woman Flees to Israel to Give Birth

If one considers the multitude of UN resolutions against Israel or the propaganda of the Palestinians, it would be logical to think that Israel is void of any semblance of human rights.  After all, both the UN and the Palestinians claim that Israel has denied Palestinians their right to the land, and they have been accused of inhumane response when the IDF has destroyed property while taking out missile launchers that fired rockets into Israel.

Rarely does the world acknowledge the humanitarian efforts that are so common to Israel.  One example happened just a day or two ago.

A 29-year-old Syrian woman in need of a C-section braved a journey through war-torn Syria to get to the Israeli border in hopes of finding medical care.  Hospitals in her own area have been destroyed in the civil war that is raging in Syria.  She was successful in reaching the border, where IDF soldiers escorted her to a hospital in Safed.  There, she gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

The amazing back story, though, has to do with the instructions given to her by her husband.  Here is how the woman describes it:

“When my husband heard I insisted on going to the border to give birth in a hospital, he asked that if she was born healthy, to give her a Jewish name in gratitude to Israel.”
~Israel Hayom, 1/17/2017

The woman heeded her husband’s wishes!  She goes on to say:

“I’ll never forget what you did here for my daughter Sarah and for me. When Sarah grows up enough to understand, I’ll tell her where she was born and why, out of all the names in the world, we chose to call her Sarah.”

That is the true Israel! Tikkun Olam!

PS: The woman will return with Sarah to her family in Syria because she is worried about them.  Please pray for this woman and her family.  And pray that Sarah grows up to fully understand and appreciate the gift of life given to her by Israelis…and that she will come to know the Jewish Messiah!

…and in you [Israel] all the families of the earth will be blessed.
~Genesis 12:3
