Middle East Leaders Respond to Nuclear Deal

Some may find it interesting that several Arab countries are just as concerned about the bad nuclear deal with Iran as Israel and other western nations are.  To understand why, one must understand that Muslims divide ideologically between Sunni and Shia.  While roughly 85-90% of Muslims are Sunni, Iran is predominately Shia.  The divide runs deep, each considers the other to be infidels and they have no problem killing one another.  Furthermore, Saudi Arabia is the motherland of Sunni Islam, while Iran is the motherland of Shia Islam.  (For a brief explanation of the Sunni-Shia divide see here or here.)

Leaders of predominately Sunni nations are, therefore, dismayed by the nuclear jackpot world leaders just handed to radical Shia Iran, and feel threatened by the evil Iranian regime and betrayed by America.  Leaders in Saudi Arabia are calling the deal “worse than the US deal with North Korea,” and it is believed that nuclear proliferation will spread throughout the Middle East.  Indeed, it is believed that the Saudis have been in secret negotiations with Pakistan to obtain nuclear warheads in the event Iran gets a path to The Bomb.  If Shia Iran gets a bomb, Sunni Saudi Arabia wants one too!

Saudi Prince Bandar is publicly blasting the deal with Iran as worse than the nuclear deal with North Korea.
Saudi Prince Bandar: the Iranian deal is “worse than the US deal with North Korea”

In response to the deal, Saudi Prince Bandar Bin Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud  wrote a letter to the editor of the Washington Post, warning “This deal will wreak havoc in the Middle East, which is already a disastrous environment.”  I encourage you to read his letter here.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has gone on the defensive via the media, doing his best to make the case that, not only is Israel at great risk, so is the US.  Support among Israelis for a preemptive strike has increased significantly, and the Israeli Air Force has been training for years for potential missions to disable Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Netanyahu recently gave an interview to Steve Forbes, indicating why the Iran deal is so deadly.  In it, he reminded us that Iran calls Israel the “little Satan,” while calling the United States the “great Satan.”  In addition, the US and others are about to bolster the Iranian coffers with $100-300 billion (yes, with a “b”) in which to pour into nuclear development and sponsoring of worldwide terrorism.

Please take 6 ½ minutes to watch or read the Netanyahu-Forbes interview.

What we are seeing in the world today is alarming, but is no surprise to our Almighty, Omniscient, Sovereign God!  In fact, what we see in Iran, Syria, Russia, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere is precisely what Bible prophecy tells us we will see in the last days!  Dear friends, I’ve read the Book (and most of you have too!), and I know how it ends.  Though we may well see the travails that Jesus likened to birth pangs (Matthew 24:8, Mark 13:8), we will be saved from the wrath that is to come (1 Thessalonians 1:10)!  As we see turmoil churn in the Middle East, and as we see evil regimes seeming to get the upper hand, keep in mind that King Jesus will not only save us from the wrath to come, but will ultimately come to end all turmoil and evil (Revelation 19).

Come back tomorrow for fantastic resources to help us live faithfully in these last days!  Blessings!
