The idea that American politics and America’s commitment to Israel are intertwined has been a vital focus on this platform for years. Throughout political seasons and the terms of multiple presidents, we have faithfully worked to clearly articulate the need not only for Christians to stand with Israel, but for our nation to stand with Israel as well. Why? Because God’s Word gives clear direction to do so, and ominous warnings if we fail. (For example: Genesis 12:3 and Joel 3:1-2.) To be on the side of curses and judgment from God is not where I want to be. What about you?

It is no secret that America is becoming less and less committed to Israel’s right of survival and right to defend herself. The Trump administration continues to play footsie with an Iranian regime who has vowed to destroy the little Satan (Israel), then the great Satan (America). Antisemitism is growing, not only within the socialist/communist wing of the Democrat party, but also among moderate Democrats and even those deemed “conservative” on the Republican side.

Case in point: Vice President JD Vance. To be fair, JD Vance has tremendous appeal to most in the MAGA sphere, and especially among the young Turning Point USA crowd. He is articulate, seems to stand firm on his positions, and claims to be a Christian. It appears he is being groomed as the next Republican nominee for President, and from a purely geopolitical perspective (with the exception of Israel), he seems to be a leader conservatives can get behind.

But the “Israel thing” is real, and very important from a Biblical perspective. Though he has feigned support for Israel, his actions haven’t always matched his words, and his admonishment of Israel at times has tainted his attempts at portraying himself as a committed partner with them.

On the other hand, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has consistently messaged his understanding of the Biblical significance of standing with Israel, and his support for them. Over and over in speeches and interviews, Rubio plants his flag on Biblical principles, and articulates them as such.

Moreover…and this is where the understanding of America’s foreign policy and the Biblical admonition to bless and to support Israel intersect…Rubio is able to put America’s relationship with Israel within the Biblical mandate to create sound, Biblical foreign policy. Some in conservative circles miss it altogether, but it was clearly articulated in this article in The Western Examiner:

Rubio is America’s very capable Secretary of State, whose job it SHOULD be to manage the situation with Iran. Yet, that responsibility was given to VP Vance, a man with no foreign policy experience to speak of (before he became VP), and a bent toward the anti-war (at any cost) sentiment of Millennials who seem to be driving the geopolitical train via the likes of Vance, TP USA and others. As a chief proponent of the failed MOU, one has to wonder about his grasp of Middle East negotiations when the only language that succeeds is power, not kowtowing to Iran’s hudna. (Hudna = the practice of seeking a ceasefire while losing, only as a means to regroup and rearm, with no intent of peace.)

To be clear, this is not an anti-Vance or anti-Turning Point USA rant, nor am I suggesting that we dismiss them. There is good to be gleaned in the work of both Vance and TP USA. However, in growing concern, be wise as serpents as we navigate the geopolitical landscape, and as we approach the midterm and 2028 elections. Regarding Turning Point, Charlie Kirk was a once-in-a-generation influencer whose God-given ability to discern Biblical truth in the midst of geopolitical turmoil was unmatched. There seems to be no one at Turning Point able to dissect the Israel issue in a way that is Biblically sound, yet appropriately challenging when applicable. On the other hand, there are definitely influencers representing Turning Point who trend anti-Israel.

Israel is NOT a perfect nation, and the government of Israel is as partisan and messed up as the US government. True wisdom, guided by Biblical principles, is desperately needed. However, the discernment between standing appropriately with Israel and holding them accountable is like threading the tiny eye of a needle. Charlie had the God-given knack for supporting Israel while still calling them out appropriately. He understood that Israel has a right to exist, a right to govern, and a right to defend themselves and he supported that. Since his death, Turning Point has become much less supportive of Israel, and the young people they influence are now much more susceptible to antisemitism. I’m afraid the same is true of JD Vance, who seemed to view Charlie Kirk as a mentor, yet now lacks his wisdom when it comes to Israel.

Friends, pray for our nation! Biblical principles are rarely recognized, much less used as a guiding light, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio does. Standing appropriately with Israel is of supreme Biblical importance. I honestly pray that VP Vance, Turning Point USA leadership, and Christians in general become reawakened to the truth of God’s Word. Praise God for men like Marco Rubio and Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, who know and understand God’s Word, and may God raise up many more leaders like them.

Why is it important for the US to get it right regarding Israel? Because Scriptural warnings of curses and judgment are stern if we fail to rightfully bless and support Israel.
