Based on the Gregorian calendar used in most of the world, Israel turns 78 today! If you know anything about the Hebrew calendar (a lunar one), you know that Israel celebrated Yom Ha’atzmaut (Independence Day) almost 3 weeks ago!

Regardless of when it is celebrated, we know Israel’s existence is a true miracle of God. No other nation has encountered their citizens being dispersed to the far corners of the earth (after the Roman conquests of 70AD and 135AD), their culture and language all but lost, and their people surviving multiple attempts to eliminate them. Yet, just as God promised to bring them back to their own land, the nation of Israel was reborn in a day…May 14, 1948!

Today, Israel faces the same existential threats they have endured virtually every day since Independence Day. Iran refuses to back down, and their terror proxies are yet to be fully harnessed. What is seemingly lost in the equation is that Iran is a theocracy, guided by evil theology based on the anticipated return of the false Islamic messiah. Yet, America continues attempts at negotiating a geopolitical deal to solve a spiritual war! It cannot be done! Iran will NEVER agree to President Trump’s “red lines” because they would rather die “for the cause of Allah” than live apart from their radically insane theology. (Oh, that Christians had such commitment!)

We are at a crossroad. As we celebrate Israel’s 78th anniversary of statehood, let us be mindful that the powers of darkness are dealing furiously and Israel is the immediate target! On this celebratory day, please pray for:

• Wisdom and boldness for Israeli and American leadership. Iran will never surrender; thus our leaders need wisdom from God to act appropriately regarding Iran and their proxies.
• Safety for Israeli and American troops whose lives are in danger as they go to battle. IDF troops are still actively engaged daily with Hezbollah in Lebanon, while American troops continue the efforts near Iran.
• God to thwart all plans of evil. The Iranian regime has no moral ground. Their intent is the destruction of Israel, and ultimately America. But behind the intent is the ushering in of the false Islamic messiah.
• The Iranian people who long to escape the tyranny of a brutal regime who cares nothing for their safety and welfare. The IRGC has already killed many times over the number of their own citizens than have been killed by Israel and the US in this war.
• The Spirit of the Lord to move in even greater ways among the Iranian people. The greatest awakening on earth right now is happening in Iran. Jesus is making Himself known and Iranian people are coming to know Him in unbelievable numbers. Pray for a great harvest!

There are many more points of prayer, so seek the Lord and pray as He guides. But above all, make this day of celebration one of committed, intentional prayer as well!
