Trump’s Foreign Policy Team: Good, Bad, or Indifferent?

Welcome back, friends! I am eternally grateful for President Trump’s support of Israel during his first term.  But, with the exception of allowing Israel to take care of business in Gaza and helping the Israelis take out Iran’s nuclear facilities, I’m a bit more concerned during his second term.  We touched on one concern yesterday: Trump’s bluster, creating discontent among our allies and world leaders in general.  Today, our focus will turn toward Trump’s foreign policy team.

Thankfully, Secretary of State Marco Rubio seems to have the steady hand as America’s top diplomat.  He seems to be staunchly supportive of Israel, but I’m not so sure I can say the same for anyone else on Trump’s foreign policy team, particularly in the Middle East. Here are some concerning examples:

  1. Early in Trump’s second term I began questioning the people he was putting in place to represent America’s interests in foreign policy. The war in Gaza was still raging and giving Israel the backing they needed to take care of business seemed important to me. As time went on, Steve Witkoff became Trump’s chief negotiator in the Middle East. I began expressing concerns publicly in posts beginning in October 2025 when “deals” were being done with Qatar, the largest funder of terrorism on the planet. Scroll to posts beginning October 21, 2025 and following, where we focused extensively on Witkoff and his business connections to Qatar. I’m still not convinced he is not bought and sold to Qatar.
  2. Lately, the al-Julani-led Syrian forces are busy freeing ISIS and other terrorist gang members from Kurdish prisons. Keep in mind that al-Julani was a supreme commander of al-Qaeda and ISIS forces before he donned a suit, told the world he was moderate, established himself as president of Syria, and was lauded in a visit to the White House. He is no moderate! He is a terrorist trained to eliminate his enemies.
  3. In that same vein, the Kurds have been faithful allies of American troops stationed in northern Syria to guard the oil interests of America and her allies. The Kurds, though relatively small in number compared to terrorist groups, were warriors and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the Americans to fend off terrorists desiring to overtake oilfields and release terrorists from Kurdish prisons. A few days ago, the Kurds were overrun by al-Julani’s forces and terrorists were released from prison. You can only imagine what they are doing to Kurdish women now that they are free. Not only does America do nothing, but the Trump team stated that the Kurds were paid lots of money, given oil and other things, and had finished their role.  Trump has turned his back on the Kurds.  What message does that send, and how long before he does the same to others in the region, including Israel?
  4. Tom Barrack is an American envoy to the Middle East, and he may be the worst of the bunch. He noted there is no point in continuing to support the SDF (Kurds), as they need to participate in the effort to create a “united” Syria, who just slaughtered large numbers of Kurds and, today, rape their women. How do you “unify” with people like that?
  5. If that’s not enough, Barrack is politically in bed with Turkey’s President Erdogan, an avowed antisemite who has threatened to destroy Israel. Yet Barrack convinced Trump to lift sanction on Erdogan’s evil regime and is petitioning the US President to recommit F-35 aircraft to Turkey.  (Remember, Turkey is a key player in the Ezekiel 38 invasion with Russia and Iran.)
  6. To make matters worse, at Barrack’s encouragement, Trump invited Erdogan to the “Board of Peace” that will rule Gaza, and he accepted. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has said that is a red line for Israel, but they seem to be stuck with it. Following that, in a conversation with Iran’s president, Erdogan stated, “Peace, stability, and security of Iran are of strategic and vital importance to Turkey.” We know where his priorities lie! BTW – there are no Israeli representatives on the “Board of Peace.” Pathetic.
  7. Trump is either being totally lied to or is choosing to look the other way as the Iranian Revolutionary Guard systematically murders thousands of protesters in the streets of Iranian cities. Trump drew a distinct red line in telling the mullahs the US would act with force if they murdered their citizens. They did it anyway (and continue to do so). It’s been well over a week and (as of this writing), nothing has happened. In the Middle East, weakness is like blood in the water. There, the mantra is, “If you’re going to shoot, shoot!” Don’t make idle threats to evil terrorist regimes.  It is weakness.  (Note: Iran is part of the coalition with Russia and Turkey that will attack Israel in the Ezekiel 38 war!)

Dear friends, America is asleep at the wheel, both politically and spiritually.  True, these things appear to be political in nature, but for Spirit-filled students of God’s Word, we know what God’s mandate is for us when it comes to Israel.  We must wake up!  Not so much so we can change things in Washington. It may already be too late for that. But so we can be prepared spiritually for what’s coming.

World events seem to be moving at the speed of light.  I could share dozens more examples of what is noted above, but this isn’t a news site.  It’s a site to encourage believers to stand strong in their faith, and unbelievers to believe in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Recently, we learned His Hebrew name, Yeshua, means “salvation,” and He is our only hope! Salvation brings peace in the midst of a messed-up world.  Trust Him today! I’ll share some words of wisdom tomorrow and we’ll discuss more topics like this in days to come.  Stick with us and be encouraged in our Lord Jesus Christ!
