What a bittersweet day yesterday was. The release of American-Israeli hostage, Edan Alexander, and the resulting celebration with his family and friends was priceless. Every hostage who comes out of a Gaza hellhole is another huge blessing from the Lord. This is a time for rejoicing, and I hope we are thoughtful enough to shower our Lord with praise at the release of another hostage.
Beyond that, though, through Israeli eyes, clouds are darkening. An incredibly impassioned Amir Tsarfati provided breaking news in the shadows of the Alexander hostage release. During his 13-minute report, he voiced concerns in a depth of frustration rarely seen.
As you watch the video, be reminded he is an Israeli Jew who has watched his country be decimated by evil perpetrated against them not only on October 7, but also during hostage release ceremonies and through tremendous psychological warfare. The entire nation of Israel has remained plunged in deep grief and mourning since October 7, 2023, and evil seems to never end. Such frustration is certainly understandable.
Take a look, then I will continue with comments…
Friends, I have to say that I agree with Amir on his strongest point of contention: the ridiculous requirement that Edan Alexander and his family be flown to Qatar to kiss the ring of the very demonic oppressors who funded Hamas, the massacre of October 7, and his very capture. Meanwhile, Edan Alexander will not meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Sadly, I have to agree with Amir’s heated question aimed at the US administration: “What in the world are you thinking? Are you out of your mind?” It very much appears the Americans are side-stepping PM Netanyahu and the Israeli government, and are abandoning Israel in favor of “deals” with others who have neither Israel’s nor America’s best interests in mind.
Though I still give the Trump administration a very slight degree of leeway in hopes that Trump has somehow worked this horrid demonstration into a rather cruel-looking bargaining chip, that leeway is quickly fading. America turning its back on Israel is simply unconscionable, and I pray I have totally misread the signs.
Thus, I’m asking you to pray as you have never prayed regarding America’s commitment to Israel. I do not agree with everything Israel does, and I don’t believe they have handled the hostage crisis well, but I DO adhere to the Biblical mandate to stand with Israel. Based on what we see and hear, it seems Trump has gone behind the back of our closest Middle East ally to negotiate with Hamas and the Houthis without regard for Israel’s best interest or input. And with a $400 million replacement of Air Force One being offered up by the Qatari royal family, it is very difficult to think that comes with no strings attached.
Make no mistake, despite being the home of one of America’s largest military bases on foreign soil, Qatar has funded Hamas and other Iranian terror proxies to the teeth in their battle against our ally, Israel. Furthermore, Qatar is by far the largest financial backer of American college campus organizations that sponsor protest groups and those willing to push the pro-Palestinian, pro-terror agenda on US campuses across the land. They have poisoned American students (and society) and are NO FRIEND of America.
Let’s hope the “deal maker” fully understands who he is dealing with; and that he understands the Biblical mandate and corrects course to support Israel rather than ignore them. My prayer is that the perceived back-turning on Israel is simply a ruse to accomplish a bigger mission that honors Israel and proves America’s support. If that occurs, I will be quick to admit my misread of the situation and will congratulate where congratulations are due. Pray with me for that!
