Terrorism has no bounds. Very large wildfires are burning west of Jerusalem and winds are unusually high and coming from different directions this evening in Israel. To make matters worst, the fires were intentionally set by Palestinian terrorists, and jihadists around the Middle East are literally celebrating this event.

I’m still filtering through news to make sure we’re accurate, but as I write this, forests are burning, several Mediterranean countries such as Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Croatia are sending help to fight fires, and Israel’s Defense Minister has called the IDF in to assist with fire fighting and rescue efforts. They are stretched thin.

Also, for those of you who have toured with EXPERIENCE ISRAEL TOURS, our guide, Aly, not only lives near where fires are burning (but so far not in immediate danger), but also has 3 sons who will all be active in Gaza beginning Sunday.

On a positive note: Israeli police have arrested multiple arsonists and are pursuing others, and at last word, small amounts of rain were beginning to fall in Israel.

Friends, having been in Israel recently, I have no words to describe the stress Israelis are living under. Yet, they persist. Normally, they would be celebrating Israel’s Independence Day (Yom Ha’Atzmaut), with fireworks, BBQ’s and fun with family and friends. None of that, though, as the wildfires and wind have forced cancellation of all events.

Israel needs a touch from the Lord. Will you join us in prayer for Israel today and in the days ahead as they battle through yet another tragedy? Pray for rain, pray for justice, pray for safety of those in harm’s way, pray for IDF soldiers (particularly those we know), and pray for the healing hand of God to rest on a hurting nation.
