We are now 3 weeks beyond the barbaric attacks that took place in Israel. The initial shock has worn off and we are left with the stark reality of what Israelis endured during that day from hell.
During the Holocaust many saw (or at least sensed) what was happening to the Jewish people, but buried their heads in the sand. Even after the fact, the masses gave little thought to what had occurred to Jewish men, women and children. Thus, in large part, the world went on as though nothing happened.
Friends, the world thinks very little of what happened in the Holocaust, and those in younger generations are not even taught about it in school. The nightmare of October 7 was Israel’s 911 and every generation must know what happened that day. While I have spared you from much more gruesome scenes, personal stories and videos have been shared so that you will know what took place.
Not only must we know, but we must also remember. Holocaust deniers perpetuated lies immediately, and so has Hamas. They want us to forget, because they want to do it again and again and again…and they will eventually come for unsuspecting Christians as well. Those of us who know what took place and who remember it clearly are more apt to recognize the onslaught that is soon to come our way.
Yes, we must know and we must remember. We must also pray! Prayer is our heart beating in rhythm with God’s. God hates evil and we must hate what He hates, while praying for those to whom hate visited. Not only does He hate evil, but the savage beasts who attacked on October 7 touched the apple of His eye. He is pained by what has been done to His uniquely called people, and we should be pained as well.
8 For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. 9 For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.
~Zechariah 2:8-9
So friends, here is another moving story to help us know, remember and pray. Pay special attention to the reactions of this Jewish woman when told that Christians around the world are praying for her. And listen to her response at the end when Dr Postell asks if he can pray for them on the spot. Sweet!
