The Greatest Battle for Some IDF Soldiers

In Israel, military service is compulsory for both men (3 years) and women (2 years). There are a few religious, medical and ethnic exceptions, but most Israelis begin military service either immediately after high school or following a gap year. Young people in Israel grow up quickly as they are given responsibilities (such as leading units) at far younger ages than what we see here in America. The responsibility can be daunting, but Jewish culture tends to prepare young people a bit better than most. (Check back tomorrow when we look at a great example of their responsibilities!)

Consider the stress and responsibility of defending the nation of Israel against enemies on all sides and, beyond that, consider what it is like for young believers in Yeshua (Jesus). That is plenty difficult for most in normal, everyday life in Israel. Some become outcasts of their family, and most are ridiculed by peers. Once IDF training begins, it can become a lonely, difficult experience for those who have put their trust in the Messiah.

What can be done to help? First, educate yourself. One for Israel has a dedicated soldiers program to mentor, train, and walk with Messianic believers as they faithfully serve their country. Take 3 minutes to find out about the greatest battle those soldiers face, and what is being done to strengthen them:

Secondly, stand with these warriors by praying for them! If you have ever felt and experienced the power of prayer, you know how dramatically God moves at the plea of His children. Let’s stand in the gap for these soldiers!

Another tangible way to make an impact is to financially support programs such as OFI’s Soldier’s Ministry. Sharing Yeshua and strengthening the hearts and minds of Messianic soldiers pays far reaching dividends! To find out more about OFI’s outreach and the impact it has go to:

PS: We will not only learn more about OFI’s ministry to soldiers, but we will meet up with Israeli soldiers on our February 2024 EXPERIENCE ISRAEL Tour. Come share the experience with us!
