Our Only Hope is Jesus, Our Best Weapon is Prayer

The theme of our recent trip to Israel was God’s Faithfulness. We discovered new depths of God’s faithfulness to the land of Israel and His people as we studied God’s Word in the very places it was written or written about. We sensed God’s faithfulness to Elijah who called down fire and humiliated the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. We imagined Jesus calming the stormy sea as we sailed the Sea of Galilee. We walked the very steps Jesus may have taken as He faithfully rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. His faithfulness was on full display as we peaked into the Garden Tomb to find it empty because He was risen from the dead.

Along with those examples, I also expressed to our group how God had burdened my heart to expand that message of faithfulness and hope to our personal lives because a day is coming when believers will have only our Blessed Hope to cling to! Times will get difficult. We might face persecution. One day, our lives will no longer be free and easy.

Little did I know how prophetic God’s urging of me was, and little did I know that within a month we would see Israel join America on the brink of literal chaos and disaster in such astounding, undeniable ways. Terror has once again struck a Christian church in America, while simultaneously, delusion has caused many Israelis to lose their senses. We shouldn’t be surprised. The Bible tells us (believers) we will be hated (Matthew 10:22, Luke 21:17), and strong delusion will overtake those deceived by the schemes of the lawless one (2 Thessalonians 2:7-12).

The Old Testament prophets warned us of what is coming; and Jesus, Paul and John (among others) gave us warning in the New Testament. Thus, what we see and experience in our world today should not shock us, but should definitely exhort us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. (Titus 2:12-13)

Indeed, our only hope is Jesus, and our best weapon is prayer.

To that end, Pastor Jack Hibbs is calling our nation to prayer tomorrow night (Wednesday). Please join the prayer effort at 7:00pm Pacific (10:00pm Eastern) either live in the Southern California area or online. Click here or on the icon to the left to connect to the live feed on Wednesday night.

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

~2 Chronicles 7:14

Truth. Believe it.
