Moving toward Crucifixion

Welcome back friends! Today is our last day in Israel, so it was time to load the bus one more time. We had a full day ahead of us, but first things first!

Oh how I wish you were here with us. Words just aren’t enough to describe the depth of impact when you stand on the Mount of Olives where Jesus had intimate conversation with His disciples, yet was ultimately betrayed.

It was here that Jesus’ disciples asked Him what would be the signs of the end. It was here Jesus sweat drops of blood as He agonized over the death He would endure to bring us salvation. It is also here His feet will touch down on the Mount of Olives, causing it to split from east to west. It was my privilege to teach about that on the very mountain it will take place.

It was to the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus led His disciples and asked them to pray during His greatest physical need. Yet, they slept. It was here Judas betrayed Him, and it was here He was arrested and put on trial for being the Son of God.

Once led away, Jesus was taken to different places, one of which is Caiphas’ house. We visited St Peter of Gallicanti, a place thought to be perhaps Caiphas’ house. We saw a dungeon in which Jesus would have languished in agony before being hauled up out of it and sent before Pilate, and Pastor Aaron Phetteplace shared a devotional, then read Psalm 88, describing Jesus’ time in the dungeon at Caiphas’ house.

After multiple illegal hearings, the people yelled “Crucify Him.” And so, they did.

Stick with us…we’ll share more soon.
