“I Will Dwell in Your Midst,” Says the Lord

You may or may not be aware that Jews around the world are celebrating Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) this week! Sukkot is the most joyous of all feasts, and is prophetic to the day there will be no distinction between Jew and Gentile and Jesus will tabernacle among us!

I am reminded of the name of Jesus we often dust off at Christmastime: Immanuel…God with us! At His birth, the Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us! That was His first coming, but there is a second!

The Feast of Tabernacles is the foreshadow of the Millennial Kingdom, and through the prophet Zechariah, God says:

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion, for behold, I will come and I will dwell in your midst, declares the Lord. And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day, and shall be my people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.

~Zechariah 2:10-11

The feasts celebrated by the Jewish people are feasts of the Lord. Each one points to Jesus, while pointing to both His first and second comings. Sukkot reminds us that He tabernacled among us 2,000 years ago, and that He will do the same once we are taken out of here and ultimately enter into the Millennial Kingdom! Can you imagine?
