Welcome back, study friends! We’re focusing on the mystery of lawlessness Paul describes in 2 Thessalonians 2. In context, we know this passage is describing the tribulation when the man of lawlessness is revealed. However, I doubt there is much argument that we are seeing a rise in lawlessness in America like we have not seen in our lifetime. Is the stage being set for the revealing of the lawless one…the Antichrist? Short of a mighty move of God, it seems we are possibly headed that way!
So, pull up a seat at the table as we dive in!
God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false.~2 Thessalonians 2:11
Believing what is false. Doesn’t that characterize what we are seeing today? A man was senselessly killed and all should be appalled. But does that senseless death make it okay to burn down cities? Does that atrocity make give license for others to riot and loot what isn’t theirs?
Do two sins make a right?
Throughout history we have seen examples of attempts to justify criminal behavior due to someone’s misfortune, but I’m not sure we’ve ever seen it to the degree we see it today. Suddenly, officials have backed away and allowed protests to become riots and riots to become “new autonomous zones” within cities, and rioters to become terrorists.
Some will say that goes a step or two too far…but does it? If a group of foreign enemies showed up in our country and began rioting, looting and burning down buildings, what would we call them? Furthermore, if a group of white supremacists did the same, what would happen? Neither group would be justified in their actions, and I dare say they would be rounded up, locked up and charged as foreign or domestic terrorists.
Yet, not so in this case. Why?
We all agree that the death of George Floyd was wrong. We all agree that justice in this country is lacking at times. We all agree that our Constitution gives us the right to peacefully protest. But where did we get the idea that it is okay to terrorize? And why aren’t mayors and governors putting a hard stop to it in their cities and states? Hold that thought…
Now we move to the tearing down and desecration of statues, symbols of America’s history and heritage. Name one free society who did not have to overcome hard things to achieve their freedom! Yes, there have been dark days in American history, but we overcame them as a nation. We can’t erase “bad” history, nor should we! It reminds us to look to the quarry from which we were hewn. (Isaiah 51:1) Tearing down statues of people we don’t care for is ludicrous! Those people were part of the history in which we overcame! That is victory…unless of course, one wishes to remain a victim of bygone history.
But it goes even further! Now, it isn’t enough to tear down statues of historical figures deemed to be offensive to some. Statues of Abraham Lincoln…our great president who led our nation to free the slaves…is now being targeted! So are other statues that have absolutely nothing to do with slavery. What is that all about, unless it is sheer violence turned to anarchy?
Retrieve the thought you held previously and add it to that one. Common denominator? Anarchy. What’s that? Anarchy is a “state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority.”
Is that the goal?
Several weeks ago I wrote a study guide entitled Coronavirus and the Emerging New World Order. There, the focus was on signs presented by the virus that a New World Order is emerging. What we have here are signs stemming from the BLM movement signaling the emergence of a New World Order.
Is it coincidence these two things (coronavirus and BLM movement) are happening now? Is it coincidence the escalation, confusion, anarchy and lack of leadership by mayors and governors occurs just prior to the most important election in American history? Is it coincidence the exact same people (very wealthy industrialists, bankers and tech giants, among others) are financing them both? Can it be that those financing it have an agenda…New World Order?
BLM is an anti-Christian, antisemitic, anti-justice, anarchy group closely associated with the stated agenda of a New World Order (aka One World Order). Don’t believe me?
- Why is BLM leader, Shaun King now demanding statues of Jesus be torn down? (Source, source) What did he ever do to anyone, other than lay down His life for their sins?
- Why did BLM “protesters” vandalize and tag an LA-area synagogue with graffiti including clearly vulgar and antisemitic slurs? (Source) Why did they go beyond that to looting Jewish-owned businesses? (Source) Did Jews somehow cause black lives not to matter? (Fact of the matter is: the majority of Jews in America are liberal and uphold policy that favors things important to BLM!)
- Why do they shout “No justice, no peace” at BLM rallies, except to say, “Give us what we define as ‘justice’ or we will make sure there is no peace. ” How many cities in America today still put up with violence and fail to send in the police, long after the officers whose arrests they were after have been charged?
- What is the purpose of the CHAZ/CHOP “autonomous zone” in the middle of Seattle, if not to keep out police and eliminate authority? That is the definition of anarchy!
- Why did a key BLM leader recently threaten to “burn down the system” if they don’t get what they want? (Source) Is more destruction really the solution…or is it more of the same: anarchy?
So, what’s the point? Simple: we are seeing what the Bible describes as end time signs right before our very eyes. Neither COVID nor the murder of George Floyd are signs of the times. Yet, they both have laid foundation for what the Bible tells us the signs are.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;~Isaiah 5:20
Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;
Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
3 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.~2 Timothy 3:1-4
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work…~2 Thessalonians 2:7
Lawlessness leads to anarchy, and that is exactly what the “lawless one” (Antichrist) described in 2 Thessalonians 2 will bring. Indeed, we see the spirit of lawlessness alive and well in our world today. In fact, it is right in our faces!
As always, Sunday is reserved for uplifting news and encouragement, so we’ll break from our focus on lawlessness until Monday. So, I’ll see you back at the virtual study table then. Meanwhile, take in the encouragement meant for you tomorrow!
