Have you ever had exciting news you thought would just burst out at any moment…yet you had to wait until all the pieces were in place to shout it out? Well, that’s going on this side of the computer right now! I have exciting news to share, but it can’t be done until everything is ready! While we wait patiently, allow me to wax nostalgic as I take you down memory lane in order to set up the big announcement…
A trip to Israel in the spring of 2008 changed my life! Not only did my Bible come alive as never before, but I was also awakened to the importance of God calling a specific people (the Jews) to a specific land (Israel) in order for Him to bless the entire world through them. (Genesis 12:3) I returned to Israel often and became determined to study God’s Word in order to understand His purpose for Israel, our relationship to God’s people, and Israel’s place in Bible prophecy. That passion blossomed into a ministry I call Looking for the Blessed Hope, and includes writing and teaching Bible studies, speaking about Israel whenever and wherever I get the chance, and maintaining this blog.
Well, the blog just entered its 6th year of existence, which is somewhat a miracle. I never dreamed it would become a routine thing, or that people from almost 200 countries would take interest in what was shared! I was really resistant to blogs and social media, but launched it simply as a means to post pictures and update friends during a trip to Israel.
Long story short, the “teacher” in me came out and lots of friends became really interested in the things I shared. Before I knew it, it became an outlet to help fulfill what I believe the Lord has called me to do: share what I learn through studying God’s Word! Over time it developed into a daily post linking current events to Bible prophecy, encouraging others to pray for and bless Israel, and sharing Biblical truth about God’s call upon both Jews and Gentiles. (Read more about the passion behind the project here.)
In terms of views and viewers, 2018 was a record-breaking year on this site. I am humbled by the interest, yet so very grateful to have an audience who shares my passion for the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! As we plunge deeper into 2019, my prayer is to remain committed to share God’s Word accurately and unashamedly (Romans 1:16, 2 Timothy 1:8-14), to encourage the body of Christ to be prepared for His return (Matthew 25:1-13), and to be a faithful watchman on the wall (Ezekiel 33:1-7, Isaiah 62:1, 6-7).
So, whether you have followed from the beginning, or you only recently stumbled upon Looking for the Blessed Hope, welcome…and thank you for your interest! I pray you find truth and encouragement here!
Stay tuned, because in the next few days you will find more than that! Just as soon as everything is ready, I will share the excitement with you! (It will be soon, so check back each day!)
Blessings and shalom!
