UPDATE (5/8/2018, 11:15 am AZ time): President Trump has announced that the US will withdraw from the Iran deal.  “Powerful sanctions” will be imposed.

(5/8/2018, 8:30 am AZ time): President Trump tweeted (yesterday) that he will announce his decision on the Iran deal today at 2:00pm Eastern time.  He is expected to make strong statements and reinstate sanctions on Iran.  It is not clear whether or not he will pull totally out of the deal.

European allies have made last-minute trips to Washington, appealing to President Trump not to leave the deal, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed Iran’s string of lies to the world in a presentation last week, hoping to influence America and the world that Iran is not to be trusted.

Some, including allies of the US, threaten that, to withdraw from the deal will almost certainly result in war.  Others are not convinced.  Iran is at its weakest right now, and desperately needs the help of its Russian ally in Syria.  Netanyahu is in Moscow tomorrow to discuss the situation in the Middle East.
