Earlier today the UN Human Rights Council passed five resolutions condemning Israel, while adopting only one resolution against North Korea, Iran and Syria.  To which US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, said:

“When the Human Rights Council treats Israel worse than North Korea, Iran, and Syria, it is the Council itself that is foolish and unworthy of its name…It is time for the countries who know better to demand changes. Many countries agree that the Council’s agenda is grossly biased against Israel, but too few are willing to fight it. When that happens, as it did today, the Council fails to fulfill its duty to uphold human rights around the world.”

The United States has threatened to pull out of the Human Rights Council if the bias against Israel does not cease.  This is the latest potential nail in the proverbial coffin.  Haley stated, “Our patience is not unlimited,” and warned that the HRC’s credibility is lacking.

In her speech, Nikki Haley also called out Palestinian Authority’s President Mahmoud Abbas for dragging his feet in peace negotiations.  She made it clear the United States will not “chase after a Palestinian leadership that lacks what is needed to achieve peace.”

How grateful we should be to have leadership unafraid to clearly state the US position and hold firm to it.  Let’s pray for our leaders, including new Secretary of State nominee, Mike Pompeo, and new National Security Advisor nominee, John Bolton.  With these, the President has an exceptionally strong National Defense team, but they need the wisdom of Almighty God.  Let’s pray for that on their behalf!
