Decision America Tour: Michigan, Indiana, Ohio

To the upper Midwest we go with the Decision America Tour.  With the presidential election now only a month away, Franklin Graham’s encouragement to us to live out our faith at home, in public and at the ballot box becomes even more immediate than ever.  We have all watched this election cycle progress, and if you are like me, you are fed up with mudslinging, name-calling and activities that have sadly become the staples of our American electoral system.

But friends, we have no room for complaint if we are not praying for the Lord to move us differently!  Let’s be about our Father’s business as this election approaches, by being on our knees in prayer for our nation and our leaders.  Complaining will never accomplish anything, yet prayer to the Almighty God who can do all things is powerful!

If you are near these state capitals, I hope you will attend the prayer rallies live.  You will be so blessed!  For those of us who live elsewhere, let’s be faithful to join in prayer.  Meet you in the throne room!

Tuesday, October 4, 2016: Lansing, Michigan

  • 26% of Michiganders attend church, pray and read God’s Word each week.
  • 38% of the population have left the church or have never been to church.
  • 1 out of 7 people in Michigan live in poverty.

“Lord, in a land that loves their football, we pray that this season will be competitive in a different sense!  Transform that drive for success on the playing field to a drive to see Your will be done in the state of Michigan.  Father God, bless the 26% who attend church, pray and read Your Word.  Give them great courage and favor, and grow their ranks in great measure.  May they reach out to the 38% who have left or never attended church.  May the love of Christ draw them.  Dear Lord, every state is burdened with those who live in poverty.  May the heavenly riches become so great that they find life apart from the tragic conditions in which so many live.  Empower and embolden the church to do their part to minister to those in need.  As the move of  Your Spirit sweeps across Michigan, we pray that revival will happen.”

Wednesday, October 5,  2016: Indianapolis, Indiana

  • 60% of Indianans say they are absolutely committed to Christianity.
  • 45% read God’s Word each week.
  • 22% volunteer in their community on a weekly basis.

“God bless Your people of Indiana!  Thank You for those 60% who profess to be committed Christians.  Our prayer is that You will give them power from on high to do the work of Your Kingdom in their neighborhoods, churches and cities.  There is kindle for revival as they read Your Word and minister in their communities.  Father, light the fire!  May Indianans become known as the people who heard the Lord and heeded His command!  May revival come out of Indiana.”

Thursday, October 6, 2016: Columbus, Ohio

  • 42% of Ohioans call themselves born-again Christians.
  • 32% of the unchurched population have children under 18.
  • In 2011, 58% of marriages ended in divorce, affecting almost 33,000 children.

“Once more, Lord, we look at an athletic-rich environment and we ask You to transform the competitive spirit exhibited in sporting venues to the real-life world of advancing Your truth.  May the faith of Ohioans be as strong as their competitive nature in sports!  Father, we are grateful for the 42% who are Christians, but we long for more.  Please empower that 42% to live righteously and to seek out opportunities to minister to the 32% who are unchurched.  Our heart breaks for the children impacted by being unchurched and by divorce.  Mend hearts and lives and fill the voids with Your love.  As Ohio residents see and experience that love, we pray the fuse is lit that bring about a great awakening in Ohio that spreads throughout our land.  Do a mighty work in Ohio, Lord Jesus!”
