Standing Our Ground as Biblical Zionists

Biblical Zionists are those who believe the truth of God’s Word regarding the Abrahamic Covenant and God’s promise of land to the Jewish people. (Review the previous few posts for more info.) Given the efforts of other Christians who espouse Replacement Theology (RT), we must stand our ground and support Israel. But the fight is intense, as false theology seems to gain momentum.

An example is the Presbyterian Church-USA who has expressed support for divestment efforts against Israel, and who passed a resolution to “actively oppose Christian Zionism.”

Sadly, some Christians hold the view that the Abrahamic Covenant has been abolished or reconstructed. In general, the Islamic roots of terrorism are ignored by those in the RT camp. The Palestinian/Hamas agenda has been accepted and RT proponents often align with the radical Islamic agenda.

Worse still, they seem to be calling upon the church in general to reject the solid, Biblical view of Israel, and typically refuse to engage personally with other Christians regarding the topic. Their efforts tend to be political in nature and full of exaggeration and lies.  These are sad days in Christendom as we witness those who profess Jesus Christ more fully support militant Islam.

In Ecclesiastes, Solomon reminds us there is nothing new under the sun. Recall the evil scheme hatched by the Nazi regime in the 1930’s. Indeed, Germany was known as a Christian nation at the time, but was driven by theology that denied the sovereignty of Almighty God. It was unpopular to stand with the Jews…and the same is true today. The church cannot afford to be silent, as was the case in the 1930’s.

The same misguided theology is strongly influential in our culture today. If we do nothing, we may well see the same evil fruit as before. Determine to stand strong with Israel, regardless the cost.
