What a Trump Presidency would Mean for America

Greetings friends!

I believe today marks the most critical period of time in American political history, as the 2016 presidential election season officially begins in Iowa.  True, our nation has faced very important elections throughout history and it can be argued that every election has carried a large degree of significance.

However, at a time in history when we see our country (and the world) spinning out of control, true leadership is more important today than ever before.  While I am convinced that even the “perfect” president can’t save us from all our woes, leadership matters.  Without leadership, we free fall into almost certain demise.  On the other hand, should God raise up a Josiah…a leader who will lead the nation in repentance and righteousness…perhaps He will relent and grant grace and favor.  If not, God help us all.

Let’s be perfectly blunt: today’s frontrunners (Hillary Clinton on the Democratic side and Donald Trump on the Republican side) are simply not capable of leading.  As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton did absolutely nothing to defend our ambassador and his staff in Benghazi, allowing them to be overrun by terrorists despite the ambassador’s pleas for help.  She then lied to the American public and in a congressional hearing about her responsibility and knowledge of that incident.  Furthermore, she used a personal email account to send and receive Top Secret email, putting our national security in perilous jeopardy.  Even now, following verification by the State Department, she continues to deny that.  If she is willing to lie about issues of that magnitude, what else will she lie about?  Clinton is fully supportive of (and will further advance) Obama policies, and our nation is in grave danger under a Clinton presidency.

However, just as disconcerting is the fact that more and more people, including alarming numbers of Christians, have jumped on the Trump bandwagon.  Make no mistake: Trump is a DANGER to America.  Why?  Because he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.  Despite his insistence that he is a conservative, he has a lifetime of words and actions that tell the opposite story.  Why don’t we see through the lies? Why don’t we check his background?  Why don’t we listen to him in his own words?  For decades he has proven to be anything but conservative.  Furthermore, he has absolutely no experience in foreign policy and relies on Sunday morning TV shows for his military advice!  (Sound facetious?  Read it, in his own words!)

Honestly, I believe there may be better candidates in this year’s election than in any election since Ronald Reagan.  None are perfect, but there are some who hold to true, conservative values.  There are potential “Josiah’s” in this year’s election, but Donald Trump is NOT one of them.

I cannot lay it out any better than Joel Rosenberg did in his blog yesterday.  Please read 32 Reasons a Trump Presidency would be a Catastrophe for America.  (Be warned:  Though this particular article does not contain foul language, Trump uses incredibly foul language in some of the articles linked within that article.  It is disgusting, but it also makes it very obvious why he is not fit to be president of the United States.)

Here is the point: As Christians, it is our responsibility to vote our values.  A vote for either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump is a vote for values totally contrary to those taught in Scripture.  Thus, for those of us committed to Biblical values, Clinton and Trump are both eliminated from our choices for president.  Know the candidates, my friends…and vote your values!

PS: Please pray for Iowans today to lead our nation in voting for righteousness.
