What the West Does Not Understand

Netanyahu-AIPAC2014
Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech before the American Israel Public Affairs Conference (AIPAC) on Monday.

In his speech before the American Israel Public Affairs Conference (AIPAC) on Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu (Prime Minister of Israel) extolled the strong, long-standing relationship between Israel and the US.  He also made a point of indicating his respect for President Obama and the office of the President.  But he also made a very important statement:

“The days in which Jewish people are passive in the face of those who want to annihilate us are over… Today, we are no longer silenced, today we have a voice, and tomorrow as prime minister of the one and only Jewish state, I plan to use that voice. American leaders worry about the security of their country, Israeli leaders worry about the survival of their country. I think that encapsulates the difference.”

Indeed, there are differences in the way the US and Israel view the Iranian nuclear threat.  As leader of the tiny nation in the crosshairs of Iranian nuclear ambition, Netanyahu is in a unique position to assess the threat.  He recognizes the Iranian regime as genocidal and apocalyptic.  In a previous interview with Joel Rosenberg, Netanyahu stated:

“I think the West misunderstood, and still misunderstands, the threat. It is a fanatic, messianic ideology that seeks to have an apocalyptic battle for world supremacy with the West. It seeks to correct what it sees as an accident of history, where the West has risen, and Islam had declined.  The correction is supposed to be done by the resurrection of an Islamic empire and the acquisition of nuclear weapons and the use of nuclear weapons, if necessary, to obliterate Islam’s enemies, and to subjugate the rest.”

“This is a pathological ideology, much like Naziism was. It poses a threat, in my judgment, in many ways bigger than Naziism. Because Hitler embarked on a world conflict and then sought to achieve nuclear weapons, where as the leading Radical Islamic regime – Iran — is seeking to first acquire nuclear weapons and then embark on a world conflict. And that is what is not yet understood in the West, and certainly, if it’s understood, it’s not acted upon.”

“You don’t want a messianic apocalyptic cult controlling atomic bombs. When the wide-eyed believer gets hold of the reins of power and the weapons of mass death, then the entire world should start worrying, and that is what is happening in Iran.”  (Joel Rosenberg web post, 3/3/2015)

Peace talk rhetoric continues to spew, and the Obama administration continues to spin the negotiations to sound as though the US is doing Israel a huge favor.  But I have to ask:  How do you legitimately negotiate with a regime that has not only clearly threatened multiple times to wipe Israel off the map, but has also indicated their preference of “a world without America”?  Not only that, but the Ayatollah believes Allah has called him specifically to bring about the last days.

What American leadership fails to understand is that this is not a political battle, capable of a negotiated settlement.  It is an ideological battle, whereby no matter what “agreements” are negotiated, Iran will carry out its ideology because they are convinced they are called to do so.  It simply doesn’t matter what negotiated safeguards are put in place.

So, Netanyahu continues to sound the alarm, while the West either sleeps through it or hits the snooze.

That’s why I continue to call believers to prayer.  The only sure way to overcome an evil ideology is to call upon a supernatural God who is sovereign over all the universe.  Make no mistake about it…one day He will definitely remove His hand of protection from our country.  And one day, Satan will have his full opportunity to unleash havoc on this earth.  (The Bible refers to that as the Tribulation.)  But meanwhile, we have work to do before He rescues us (believers) from that wrath.

With that thought in mind, I leave you with the theme verse of Looking for the Blessed Hope, in full context:

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
~Titus 2:11-14

Pray for the Prime Minister as he delivers his speech to Congress later this morning.  Pray for eyes to be opened, and for leaders’ minds to be changed.  And let us not lose heart, for we know that the TRUE Messiah will come to redeem His children.  So, pray that we will redeem the time, by living out Titus 2:11-14.
