BREAKING: Did the Obama Administration Secretly Plot with Iran and Mislead Congress?

News is just breaking about possible back channel deals former President Obama made with Iran.  Some are also claiming he misled Congress in attempting to keep those deals secret.

Obama’s alleged dealings with Iran had to do with providing Iran secret access to American banks, despite the sanctions levied by the Iran nuclear deal.  You can read about those allegations reported by Fox News, the Chicago Tribune, National Review, New York Post and others.

Use caution, Christian friends.  While there is compelling evidence to suggest possible impropriety, these are serious allegations that have yet to be proven factually.  I believe most Americans want truth and justice to prevail, and that should be our prayer.  Rather than rush to judgment, pray for God to grant wisdom to those involved in the investigation, and that He brings truth to light.

First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.

Joel Rosenberg: “Trump is Tougher on Jeff Sessions than on Vladimir Putin”

Joel Rosenberg appeared on Fox News Friday night, where he spoke to Shannon Bream about growing concerns about Russia and the dangerous ambitions of Vladimir Putin.  While Rosenberg acknowledged stronger policy regarding Russia, he calls Trump “radio silent” when it comes to standing up to Putin verbally.

I’m not saying that the President’s policies [towards Russia] so far are bad. Like, he’s increasing defense spending dramatically in the United States. He’s pushing NATO to spend more on their own defense, and they’re doing it. He’s got a great national security team around him. But he’s radio silent when it comes to Vladimir Putin, the worst dictator on the planet. He’s tougher on Jeff Sessions, than he is on Vladimir Putin.
~Joel Rosenberg on Fox News, March 9, 2018

In addition, Bream and Rosenberg discussed the recently-released statements from Obama National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, revealing her command to a cyber-response team to “stand down” in efforts to squelch Russian interference in 2016 elections.

It is incomprehensible that in the midst of a presidential campaign — a general election — that a national security advisor would tell a team of people dealing with Russian attacks — aggressive attacks — [to stand down.]

BTW – I’m reading Joel Rosenberg’s new book, The Kremlin Conspiracy.  As always, the plot seems all too real in today’s world, as he paints the picture of a power-hungry Russian czar, anxious to become the most powerful man on the planet!  Let’s hope it remains fiction!

The sleeping bear (Russia) is definitely awakening!  How the US (and the world) deal with Russia and Iran is very critical, and as believers, it is our obligation to pray for wisdom for our leaders and our allies.  Will you stop and do that right now?

Trump Speeches on Christian Values and Iran

On Friday, President Trump delivered two very strategic speeches: the first regarding Judeo-Christian values, the second regarding Iran.  I’ll post those speeches below, but I want to focus on the key points of those speeches, and why I see them as strategic.

He first addressed the Values Voter Summit in Washington DC.  “Values Voters” is a coalition of primarily Christians (definitely right wing) who vote according to strong Judeo-Christian values.  Moral issues, religious liberties and the like are at the top of the priority list when voting, and sources report that 80% of those who hold strongly to those values voted for Trump in the 2016 Presidential election.

While Trump’s life has not always exhibited the highest moral qualities, his talk is becoming more consistent with values that we as Christians hold in high esteem.  For that I am grateful.  Here are some highlights of that speech:

  • He frequently alluded to the value of prayer and even quoted Scripture at one point, and alluded to a Scriptural principle when he spoke of us hurting together, hoping together and healing together.  (That principle is taught in 1 Corinthians 12:12-26.)
  • He clearly stated his position on the dignity and sanctity of every human life, and on religious liberty.
  • He referenced America’s Christian heritage and the invoking of the Creator at least four times in our Declaration of Independence.
  • He stated: “In protecting America’s interests abroad, we will always support our cherished friend and partner, the state of Israel.  We will confront the dangers that imperil our nation, our allies and the world, including the threat of radical Islamic terrorism.”

In his speech regarding the Iran nuclear deal:

  • He announced he is decertifying the deal (sending it to Congress to make changes), and definitively stated: “In the event we are not able to reach a solution working with Congress and our allies, then the agreement will be terminated.”
  • He laid out the history of Iran’s terrorist activity against the US.
  • He was the first to publicly announce to the American people that the US paid Iran $1.7 billion (in cash) in the settlement of the Iranian nuclear deal.  Because that money is believed to have gone to terrorists groups and regimes (such as Hezbollah and Bashar al-Assad), that makes the US the largest sponsor of terrorism in the world.
  • He likened the Iranian nuclear deal to that of North Korea (during the Clinton administration), allowing North Korea to obtain nuclear capabilities that now threaten the world.

However, despite the fact I was impressed with President Trump’s positions and his solid stance on values upon which I agree, one thing kept coming to mind more strongly than anything else.  Much of Trump’s strategy has been to use Executive Orders to overturn Executive Orders put in place by Obama.  Does that cause anyone else concern?

True, getting anything done via Congress is a virtual impossibility these days, as each party is dead set against the other party gaining a “victory” in anything.  It is not that I’m necessarily against every Executive Order being signed into action, but simply that if President Trump can override what Obama did, what will happen when the next President takes office?

You see, my friends, I truly believe the Lord may be giving America “one last chance,” and He is using President Trump (of all people) to do what “regular politicians” cannot or will not do.  If that is the case, how long will the Lord call us to repent and turn back to Christian values (and the God of those values), before He withdraws His hand of blessing and protection?  Regardless of when, it is eventually going to happen, and evil will reign with such vengeance that I can hardly see how America can survive.

What will cause America’s collapse? Perhaps Iran or North Korea or Russia (or any number of other nations) decide to take action and America is “surprisingly” defeated.  Perhaps we encounter financial collapse.  Immorality may take our nation down.  A gigantic natural disaster (the “super volcano” is in the news right now!) may wipe out a large chunk of American people and resources.  Or…perhaps the rapture occurs and believers in Jesus Christ are suddenly snatched away to meet Jesus in the air!  (1 Corinthians 15:51-57)

Time is short.  Jesus taught a parable about 10 virgins preparing for their wedding. (Matthew 25:1-13)  5 were ready for the Bridegroom to appear and 5 were not.  Believers, as the Body of Christ, we are those virgins, awaiting Jesus, our Bridegroom.  The world is stirred up and the birth pains are happening.  Are you ready?

(Here are President Trump’s speeches from Friday.  Enjoy…and pray for our President as he faces overwhelming criticism for his announcement on the Iran deal.)

Life in a Dangerous and Unfriendly Neighborhood

LFTBH Banner(2)

As we know, Israel will ultimately face difficult challenges from Russia, Iran and their coalition.  Let’s finish this week’s study by looking further at news regarding Ezekiel 38 Who’s Who nations.  We’ll focus on Syria, Lebanon and Turkey, all northern neighbors of Israel.  Review the map below to get a good sense of where those nations are located in relation to Israel.

Also, keep in mind that Turkey is among the nations listed in Ezekiel 38, while Syria and Lebanon (currently puppet-states of Iran) are not.

Let’s review Ezekiel 38:1-6.  Please read that passage once more.  Of the ancient countries listed in that passage, which ones may refer to Turkey?  (Hint: see Who’s Who Among Northern Invaders) Until a few years ago, Turkey was one of Israel’s strongest Middle East allies.  In fact, Turkey was a Middle East ally of Israel.  For many years, they joined together in routine air combat training over the deserts of Turkey.  However, that ceased a few years ago.

Read Growing Ties Between Turkey, China, Iran Worry Israel and US (July 10, 2010;  According to that article, who seems to have taken Israel’s place in training missions with Turkey?  Does that cause you concern?  Why or why not?

Indeed, some nations once friendly toward Israel have done an about face.  In fact, Turkey continues to sever ties with Israel and turn more and more toward alliances with other Muslim countries.  (The good news is that in recent times, other Arab nations, such as Saudi Arabia and the United Emirates seem to have warmed up to the Israelis.  However, it is too soon to tell if those nations will truly stick by Israel if conflict develops with other Arab nations.)

Lebanon, a tiny nation immediately north of Israel, along the Mediterranean Coast, has been a hot spot for Israel throughout much of history.  A significant conflict occurred in 2006 when Hezbollah paramilitary forces launched rockets into northern Israeli cities.  Israel’s military responded with air strikes and artillery fire on specific targets within Lebanon, Hezbollah’s base of operations in the area.  (If you are interested in detail, read more here.)

Tensions continue to mount there, as evidenced by the clash in January, 2015.  Read Deadly border clashes stoke fears of war in Israel, Lebanon (Washington Post, January 28, 2015)

Hezbollah, a recognized terrorist organization, has practically taken over the tiny nation.  Who do you suppose is behind Hezbollah, supplying them with weapons and finances in which to carry out these sorts of attacks against Israel?  None other than Iran, a co-leader of the soon coming northern invasion!  Do you see the table being set?

In October, 2010, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made a historic trip to Lebanon.  Read Ahmadinejad Tells Lebanese at Rally Near Israel Border: The Zionists will Disappear (October 14, 2010;  Having read that article, what do you believe Iran’s goal is in Lebanon?

Finally, let’s consider Syria.  Several terrorist organizations have headquarters in Damascus, Syria’s capital; and interestingly enough, God’s Word has a specific prophecy concerning Damascus.  In a later lesson, we’ll study more in depth about Bible prophecy concerning Syria.

Since that time, a different Iranian president has taken the helm.  Considered “moderate” by some, current president Hassan Rouhani carries the same hatred of Israel, yet is much more self-controlled than Ahmadinejad.  Thus, he is not considered the threat that Ahmadinejad was.  However, he was the primary Iranian thrust to the Nuclear Deal signed during the Obama administration.  His sights, too, are set on the destruction of Israel, which feeds right into what we read in Ezekiel 38!

Fellow Sojourners, we are seeing prophecy fulfilled in our day.  We are all wise to read the headlines while keeping an eye on Scripture!  Tomorrow’s headlines have already been written in God’s Holy Word, as He wrote history long before it happened!  What an incredible God!
