Terror is Paris. Are we really safe anywhere? And where is all this headed? We know that creation will one day be set free from corruption, but for now all of creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth. (Romans 8:21-22) As we consider Bible prophecy, we might conjure up “what if” scenarios in our minds. What if a terrorist group such as ISIS got their hands on weapons of mass destruction? What if chemical weapons became a part of their arsenal? What about Israel? Will they go after them next?
Who else would they target?
Of course, those concerns beg further questions: Is anyone prepared and able to stop them? Is it too late? Are we too complacent, thinking it can’t happen to us? Does our military have what it needs to defend us, and would our government do whatever is necessary to do so?
A recent poll revealed that 74% of Americans believe a catastrophic terrorist attack by ISIS is likely to occur inside our borders if they are not stopped, and chemical and/or biological weapons will be the weapons of choice.
The poll was commissioned by Joel Rosenberg as part of the research for his latest novel, The Third Target, which was released Tuesday. His concern is that, while the American public tends to see a huge threat on the horizon, leaders of our nation and the world seem to have a complacency that is frightening. Rosenberg was interviewed by Shannon Bream and by Mike Huckabee of Fox News recently and, though these interviews are promotion of his book, he made some intriguing points in his interviews about the readiness of the US. I commend the following two posts from Joel Rosenberg’s blog to your attention. They are well worth the read, and each contains a short video of his interviews on Fox News.
In face of genocide, too many in Washington complacent about defeating ISIS
“Nightmare scenario”: What happens if ISIS attacks Jordan?
By the way, I pre-ordered The Third Target and began reading it on my tablet as soon as it was released. Like most of his books, it is very hard to put down, and I’ve spent the wee morning hours since then finishing it. In my opinion, it is not Rosenberg’s best ever, but it is definitely a power-packed political thriller ripped from current headlines that causes the reader to consider what fulfillment of Bible prophecy could easily look like. And he definitely did his homework! It is a good read, and will give you new insight into ISIS.
Blessings to all!
