Today we have a unique opportunity to hear a Messianic Jew speak directly to Iranians in the context of Jeremiah 49. Many of you know the story of Joel Rosenberg, an American Jew and world-renown author, who moved his family to Israel several years ago. Prior to that, the Rosenbergs founded The Joshua Fund, an Israeli-based ministry loving and serving Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus.

You may be less aware of Hormoz Shariat, the “Billy Graham of Iran.” Shariat, an Iranian believer in Jesus, broadcasts the Gospel of Jesus Christ into Iran, and is significantly responsible for the silent revival going on in Iran. Silent because it is a dangerous place to profess Jesus. Thus, most Iranian believers gather in underground home churches and are careful of outward signs of their belief in Jesus, for fear of death. The number of believers is staggering, and it is believed the greatest revival on earth is happening in Iran right now.

As Rosenberg parses Jeremiah 49, he refers to the elimination of Iranian missiles, launchers and other military equipment as it relates to that chapter. For transparency’s sake, some Bible scholars hold different positions on whether or not the Jeremiah 49 prophecy has already been fulfilled. Let’s not argue about that, but consider the truth that God loves the Iranian people and it is our responsibility as Christians to share truth with those of all nations, including Iran. These men are doing that, and the bottom line is that God is in control, regardless of how we interpret Jeremiah 49. Iran is part of God’s end time plans.
