Now That the Deal is Signed…

We’re in for a ride, my friends, but it could be the one we’ve been waiting on!

To put us on the right track, the signing of the peace agreement with Iran is not the “sure sign” of anything, and we must be very careful not to view it that way. On the other hand, when we view the collection of signs of the times through a Biblical lens, the current events certainly seem to align with many other signs that tell us we are living in what God’s Word describes as the last days.

Jesus Himself told us that no one knows the day or the hour of His coming (Matthew 24:36, Matthew 25:13, Mark 13:32) and on this blog we will never make predictions of that day or hour. Yet, Jesus also rebuked religious leaders and even His followers for failing to discern the signs of the times. (Matthew 16:1-3, Luke 12:54-56) So we are wise to be aware of the signs of the times!

It is in that context that I say we may be in for the ride we’ve been waiting on! Maranatha, Lord come quickly!

While JD Vance and clips of President Trump flood the airwaves with promises about how great the new deal is, we are wise to wait and see how it all pans out. First, the agreement isn’t done…only the MOU (memorandum of understanding) has been signed. They simply agreed to discuss the issues! And remember, just because Iran signs a document doesn’t mean the terms of the agreement will be upheld. Iran is patient. They will wait out the US Navy’s presence in the gulf, and they will wait out President Trump’s term in office before fully testing America’s resolve. They will continue using Hezbollah and other proxies to do the dirty work of pecking away at Israel until Iran can recover, rebuild, rearm, and reverse the circumstances. If they can drive a deeper wedge between Israel and America, even better for Iran.

To that point, Israel is adamant regarding their position: they are not party to the deal and will do what is necessary to protect their homeland, including striking back at Iran if they fire missiles. JD Vance said what we all know: that the US and Israel have different perspectives and the US will do what is best in America’s best interest. That may sound very patriotic, but America’s best interest is also tied to God’s warning that all nations will be accountable for how they treat Israel. We’ll see whether or not Israel gets dragged into negotiations and further pressured to acquiesce to America’s best interest.

Regardless of it all, we must be more determined than ever to be about our Father’s business. Even if the Trump team is correct and they succeed in bringing Iran to heal, it is temporary, according to Bible prophecy. In due time, Iran will join the coalition with Russia, Turkey and others to invade Israel. Ultimately, the antichrist will appear on the scene (either before or after the northern invasion). The signs are all there.

Yet, before the antichrist is revealed, 1 Thessalonians promises that God will save us (believers) from the wrath that is to come (Tribulation). (1 Thessalonians 1:10, 1 Thessalonians 5:9) That’s rapture talk…and we are exhorted to keep looking for the Blessed Hope! (Titus 2:11-14)

Stand firm, believing friends! Regardless of what the world throws at us, we know how the story ends! Are you ready for the last days?

LATE BREAKING:

  • The CIA, led by Director John Ratcliffe, reportedly listened to phone calls between senior Iranian officials indicating the regime does not intend to comply with nuclear commitments, even if a final agreement is reached. (Axios)
  • Along with Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth reportedly also had different views of Iran’s commitment to an agreement. It seems VP JD Vance and negotiator Steve Witkoff have presumably been the architects of the current agreement. (Israel National News)
  • Some report that Rubio and Hegseth’s cabinet positions may be in jeopardy if they continue to oppose the deal. (Raw Story)

If these reports are accurate, it does not bode well for the agreement or for the Trump administration. Sadly, it seems the administration has made business deals a much greater priority than solid foreign policy, thus splitting the businessmen from the diplomats. Businessmen do a great job of advising President Trump on business-related matters. But perhaps the diplomats should have greater sway when it comes to dealing with America’s enemies. Both are necessary, but in balance.

Again, Bible prophecy speaks to this. In an attempt to draw many nations into an “everyone is invited” economic agreement, long sought by Trump, the agreement is looking more and more like a business deal. That is not to say treaties and agreements that include economic features are not wise endeavors. However, when the focus shifts so dramatically to world economy, and secret side deals dot the diplomatic landscape, an alarm should sound! (Don’t be surprised when side deals become known, some of which likely held up negotiations. The deal is much more encompassing than simply the US and Iran.)

In the end, according to Bible prophecy, there will be one world economic system under the authority of the antichrist. This is NOT to imply that Trump is the antichrist (he is NOT), but the system he is creating could conceivably become the framework upon which it is developed.

Prophetic signs are everywhere, friends. Again, avoid getting hung up on this one current event, but put this event in context of all the various signs of the time. It is a reminder for us to work faithfully as we await His return!
