2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 warns of the coming great apostasy that will occur in the last days. The passage describes deception (verse 3), unrighteous deception (verse 10), and strong delusion (verse 11) that will be perpetrated by the man of sin (verse 3), the son of perdition (verse 3), and the lawless one (verses 8 and 9). Basic study of the passage reveals the man of sin, the son of perdition and the lawless one as none other than the antichrist.
Those verses are some of the most sobering in all of Scripture, particularly given the time and season in which we live. Deception and delusion are not only present in the world today but are sadly growing at a rapid pace in the church as well. There are many deceptions, but a major one revolves around Israel and whether or not God has rejected the Jewish people because they rejected Jesus as Messiah. Some contend that, because Israel rejected the Messiah, God has transferred all the promises once made to the Jewish people to the church. Stated another way: the church is the “new Israel.”
Friends, that is known as Replacement Theology or Supersessionism or Fulfillment Theology. Regardless of what it is called, it is simply not true, and Scripture clearly and completely debunks that notion.
Last Wednesday night I heard the most Biblically anchored refutation of Replacement Theology ever. One passage after another brought to light the fact that God has not changed in any way, nor has He changed His mind about Israel. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, and He most certainly has not rejected His people.
This is an important message for all who seek truth. It is an hour well invested. Enjoy!
