Shavuot: The Feast of Weeks

We know it on our calendar as Pentecost, but in Hebrew, today is Shavuot (Feast of Weeks). This Jewish feast actually started at sundown yesterday, but stretches until sunset tonight.

As often mentioned, the Jewish feasts are a shadow of what is to come. For believers in Jesus, each feast represents the next phase in God’s plan for Israel and the nations. According to Scripture, the Holy Spirit ascended on Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), giving us direct access to the Father! In Jewish tradition, God gave the Torah (law) to Moses on Shavuot (Pentecost).

It is important to understand the nuances of the Jewish feasts in order to better understand God’s plan for those who follow Him. Please take a few moments to read and meditate on the true meaning of Pentecost.

Be blessed as you realize the substance represented by the shadow!
