News broke late last week when Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant publicly aired his internal feud with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A few days later, Benny Gantz, a fellow war cabinet member and former Defense Minister piled on in issuing an ultimatum to Netanyahu: comply with what the Gallant/Gantz alliance wants, or risk them resigning from the government, leaving Netanyahu’s coalition perilously close to collapse.
The very last thing Israel needs at this point is a dissolved government with no ability to govern. So, what in the world is going on?
If you follow Israeli politics, you may have noticed it is every bit as dysfunctional as the US government. It is also just as divided. That’s a problem in itself, but there is more.
Let’s just say the obvious: the Biden administration is putting pressure on Netanyahu to comply with their wishes. Thus, in partnership with Gallant and Gantz on the inside, the Biden regime is aiming to remove Netanyahu from his position as Prime Minister. The rift between Biden and Netanyahu is far worse than what we see in the media, and ultimately, Biden wants the destabilization of Israel and the recognition of a Palestinian state. Furthermore, Biden desperately wants to remain in power himself, and ultimately, make a name for himself by doing what no other American leader has done: bring Saudi Arabia into a peace deal with Israel.
From a prophetic standpoint, Ezekiel 38 makes it quite clear that, treaty or no treaty, Saudi Arabia will not be among the predominately Muslim nations that attack Israel from the north as Ezekiel describes. Though Saudi Arabia is not fully trustworthy, normalization with Israel would be a good thing. But at what cost?
One of the Saudi demands for a peace deal with Israel is a Palestinian state. (Or at least that is what is stated in public.) Biden is oh so pleased to oblige that request, placing Israel in permanent existential threat. According to reports, the US would also offer up significant assistance for a Saudi nuclear program. (Supposedly for defense against arch-enemy, Iran. But really…does another Middle East country need nuclear weapons!?!) And what would America get out of it? Biden’s ultimate dream: a legacy of peace in the Middle East. (Pretend it all makes sense!)
So, what about the ultimatum laid down by Benny Gantz? First, he accused Netanyahu of using Israel’s national security as a way to retain political power. In reality, information is beginning to leak that the security failure on October 7 likely falls at the feet of high-ranking military leaders who were more interested in rebelling against Netanyahu at the time than keeping an eye on developments on the Gaza border. If true, it makes me wonder exactly who is trying to hold on to power!
Secondly, Gantz claims Netanyahu has no “day after” plan once the war is done. That mantra was brewed and spewed countless times by Biden’s cronies who constantly run back-and-forth to meet with certain members of the Israeli war cabinet. They are all singing from the same song sheet.
Netanyahu has talked about a multi-national government in Gaza, with Israeli security once the war ends. Gantz & Co want a Palestinian government. They seem to have missed the memo that 80% of Palestinians SUPPORT Hamas, and in fact, voted them into power by a very wide margin. What in the world could go wrong!?!
Of course, Netanyahu argues that “Gantz’s ultimatum means a defeat for Israel, the abandonment of the majority of the hostages, the survival of Hamas in Gaza and the formation of a Palestinian state….Instead of presenting an ultimatum to Hamas, Gantz presented an ultimatum to the Prime Minister.”
Friends, we are watching Satan attack the very premise of God’s promises regarding Israel in Genesis 12:3:
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
As individuals and nations, our scales all tip in one direction or the other. We either bless Israel or we don’t. As individuals, we can bless Israel even if our nation does not. But take a look at the consequences for nations who fail to tip the scale to the side of blessing:
3 “For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will also gather all nations,
And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
And I will enter into judgment with them there
On account of My people, My heritage Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
They have also divided up My land.
~Joel 3:1-2
Indeed, God reserves specific judgment upon nations who scatter His people (Jews) and divide His land (Israel). Pushing for a two-state solution, or for Palestinians to rule the land, is dangerous! It puts America (and any other nation) squarely in the middle of God’s judgment. Woe to those who do so.
So, how should we respond? We call upon the One who is sovereign and able to accomplish what cannot be accomplished any other way! Prayer points:
- Strength and wisdom for Benjamin Netanyahu. He’s not perfect, and we may not agree on every decision he makes, but he’s tipping the scale in the right direction in this regard.
- Confusion and silence for Biden and those who wish to curse Israel. May the plans of the wicked be thwarted, and may the wicked be driven from power.
- Confusion and silence for Gallant, Gantz and those inside Israel who are pushing the evil agenda.
- Safety and protection for Israel’s soldiers as they fight the battle to destroy Hamas and return the hostages.
- Wisdom for IDF leaders as they direct soldiers in very difficult battle conditions.
- Peace and comfort known only through Yeshua for the families of hostages.
- Salvation for Israel. May Jewish hearts and minds be open to see and know the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah).
