Israel…the Day After

How about a great big “Praise God” for His faithfulness in protecting Israel from the unprecedented drone and missile attack from Iran on Saturday night/Sunday morning! Christians around the world began praying specifically for Israel’s security when the news broke that Iran was poised to launch an attack. Once launched, those of us following the action prayed during the time the drones and missiles were in the air, headed toward Israeli military bases and other targets.

God honored our prayers and the result:

Israel’s air defense systems performed brilliantly! Most of us have heard of the Iron Dome, the close-range air defense system used primarily against incoming rockets from nearby Gaza, Lebanon and Syria. But Iron Dome is only one of several air defense systems developed by Israel, and you need to understand the magnitude of what took place, and the defensive weapons that were deployed.

We [Israel] have grown into the reality with Iron Dome, but his is a completely different event.

The story began in the 90s with the beginning of the development of Arrow 1 and 2 (later came the Iron Dome, David’s sling, Arrow 3,4 and Iron Beam). Unlike Iron Dome, which has had thousands of operational opportunities since 2011 to learn and improve, the first time Arrow 2 and 3 faced a real operational challenge was in the current war.

To try to illustrate the meaning of things, imagine a person who practices basketball for 30 years alone, and the first time he steps on the court is for a one-on-one game against Michael Jordan…and he wins 100-0!

Indeed, there was help from the US, France, Great Britain and Saudi Arabia, but Israel’s defense systems took out the vast majority of the threats aimed at Israel. It is also true that many Iranian missiles failed at launch, killing Iranians on the ground, while other fell in Iraq. During this attack, Iran killed more of their own citizens than Israelis! In fact, fewer than 5 drones and/or missiles actually penetrated Israel’s borders. It was reported that a young Bedouin (nomadic Arab) was killed, and one Israeli air base suffered only a small crater near a runway. The damage was fixed immediately and planes continued using that runway to launch missions.

Again, a huge “Hallelujah” to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for His hand of protection.

On another note, as usual, Israelis go on with life! Awakening on Sunday morning with school already called off, and the Iranian threat over, the beaches filled with people and tour groups resumed their tours! The pictures below are from personal friends on the ground in Israel. These were taken the day after Iran’s attack.

It is hard to describe Israel’s zeal for life. When it comes to attacks from their enemies, a common response is: “Our love of life is stronger than your love of destruction.” That is truer in Israel than any other place on earth. Despite what comes, the Jewish people are determined to live life!

Please continue praying for Israel. Despite immense pressure from the US and others, Israel simply must respond to Iran’s attack or risk becoming weak and more vulnerable than ever. In the Middle East, weakness is blood in the water for the evil sharks longing to devour Israel. May Israel stand strong and do what they need to do without interference from the US.

One final thing: 3 of Amir Tsarfati’s kids have been recalled into IDF service, and one of Aly’s sons (Daniel) has been recalled. (Jonathan and Amos have not been recalled, though they could be if reinforcements are needed.) Please pray for those families and any others you know in Israel. They remain strong and determined, but it is our responsibility to pray.
