A favorite verse for many people is found in Romans 8:28:

²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

It is a verse sometimes quoted to people when dealing with difficulties, yet is a verse some dread hearing if they are the ones experiencing the difficulties! So, what is the truth of the matter? 

So, does God REALLY cause ALL things to work together for good? The answer is a resounding “yes” to “those who love God” and are “called according to His purpose.”

Who loves God? And who is called according to His purpose? Dear friends, we love because He first loved us, so our first step is to put our trust and faith in the love of Jesus! He took on our sin so we could take on His righteousness! He also called us according to His purpose.

What is His purpose for you? Have you considered the question? Have you sought the answer? It is worth seeking because He lives to cause all things to work together for your good!

I believe someone reading this today is in the depths of difficulty and needs a word of encouragement. If that is you, stop the earthly battle long enough to consider God’s crazy abundant love for you. Then, let His love be the impetus that drives you to return that love to Him. And remember, He called you according to His purpose, so pursue it with everything you’ve got!
