Heroic stories are pouring out of Israel. It is truly refreshing to hear from those so zealous for life that they think nothing of putting their own lives on the line for the sake of others. The accounts are heartwarming and are great reminders of why Israel is committed to the fight until Hamas is totally defeated and dismantled.
In Israel, both men (3 years) and women (2 years) must serve in the IDF. Similar to the US, they have options to make military service a career. Once no longer on active duty, most transition to reserve status until a certain age. Given the call up, Israel has roughly 350,000 men and women on active duty.
While I am not generally a fan of women serving in combat roles, Israel promotes capable soldiers to positions of leadership in all phases, whether male or female. Many women fly Israeli fighter jets, and some command field units on the front lines. They take their jobs seriously and they do them well.
Take a few minutes to hear this female commander recount the events of October 7 and her response. It is inspiring!
Why not take a moment to pray for this heroic commander and her soldiers.
