Happy Monday dear study friends! I pray you had a blessed weekend.

In the midst of our “Signs of the Times” series, we took a break yesterday to be encouraged, and to be challenged to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with as many as we can. The days in which we live are challenging days, yet we have such great hope and assurance in Jesus our Lord. He is faithful, and we can rest assured He will fulfill His promises to Israel and to us as believers.

Today we’re diving back into some of the signs the Bible speaks of regarding the last days, and we are viewing world events through the lens of Scripture.

When we stop to consider the sacred units of governance ordained by God, three are clearly defined in Scripture: Family, Church, and Government. Each is designed for order, each was ordained by God, and each is under perhaps the most severe attack in human history. Each will crumble before our very eyes if those who profess to believe and depend upon God’s ordinances do nothing.

For now, we will focus solely on the family. It is impossible to ignore or deny the all-out assault on the family and the nature of God. Family is dependent upon the nature of God, or it falls apart…and we are seeing it. Matthew 10:21-23 warns of hatred against believers prior to the return of Christ. In fact, verse 21 says:

²¹ “Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.” 

In some cases, even immediate family members will turn on one another during the last days. All of us likely know at least one disjointed family in which tremendous animosity exists between family members. It is more ubiquitous and profound than any point in history. We are seeing the groundwork laid for the last days.

Not only is the family units attacked from within, but there is an all-out war for “family” as we know it Biblically. God was clear: there are only two genders…male and female, and there is only one definition of marriage: one man for one woman for life. (Genesis 1:24-28, Genesis 2:24)

It is an attack on the nature of God when we begin to entertain notions of multiple genders and definitions of marriage. Yet, in society today, our schools and institutions have flagrantly blurred the lines and forced “tolerance” of false definitions to the point some people are literally unable to define “woman.” (Sadly, one happens to sit on the bench of our US Supreme Court!)

One must negate all truth to believe any other definition of gender or marriage. Truth is negated by those who are deceived, and this deception has even infiltrated the church.

4 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, ² speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.

~1 Timothy 4:1-2

³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; ⁴ and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

~2 Timothy 4:3-4

Stop and consider, my friends. When in human history have these things been on display in such an overwhelming cloud as today? If it were the only end time sign, perhaps it would warrant a glance and a doubt as to its significance. Combine it, though, with the emergence of dozens more end time signs and you have Scriptural evidence that the return of Jesus could happen at any minute!

Jesus’ return is the best news ever for a believer, but should ring absolutely frightening in the ears of one who does not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. If you don’t know Him personally, right now is the time! Here is how:
