Our Entrance into Jerusalem

Welcome back virtual tour friends! Thanks for joining us, and I hope you are blessed.

After we left En Gedi, we headed for Qumran. Lunch was there, so we took a timeout to fill our bellies, then headed to Kalia Beach. There, the vast majority of the group donned water clothing and went for a float in the Dead Sea. Since the Dead Sea is filled with rich minerals, it’s viscosity is really high, so it is literally impossible to sink! One can kick back and put their hands in the air, and not sink! Our group had a blast!

Once showered and back on the bus, we prepared for the half hour drive to Jerusalem…the Holy City. As we rode along, we considered what it might have been like for the Jewish people to go “up to Jerusalem” three times a year for the feasts, singing psalms of ascent. After summarizing the feasts, we read Psalm 122:

I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet will stand within your gates, O Jerusalem....Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces. For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, "Peace be within you." Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.

The Israelites went up to Jerusalem three times a year for the feasts, now here we are, going up to Jerusalem ourselves! “Jerusalem, Jerusalem” blared on the sound system as we entered the Holy City! (Here is a version of the song we heard: https://youtu.be/PbrTcHghU4I)

Suddenly, we are here! As always, for me personally it feels like home. What a sensation, and what excitement to be here! We have four more fantastic days ahead of us!

After checking into our Jerusalem hotel, we headed to dinner. The buffet here at the Grand Court is truly amazing! All the hotel buffets are good, but this one takes the cake! Check out the salad bar, main course options and the oh-so-popular dessert bar. Yum yum!

Stick with us as we continue this amazing journey together.
