Day 27: 31 Days of Prayer for Israel – Israeli Government

Israel’s current administration is on the verge of collapse, and the nation may be headed to the polls for the fifth time in three years. That is difficult for the stability of Israel, but many believe a new coalition is needed if Israel is to stand up to the threats from a nuclear Iran. What better time to pray for Israel’s government.

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

~1 Timothy 2:1-2

Israel’s government seems to be in constant flux with new political parties almost every year. From Islamist to Ultra Orthodox and secular, a wide variety of factions make up the Israeli government. As you can imagine, the infighting can get intense. While the prime minister might be moderate, minority parties in his coalition often have disproportionate influence and suffer from corruption.

So today, pray for those in positions of power – for sharpened consciences, for wisdom, for righteousness, and integrity. Pray that the Gospel would not be hindered by those in authority.
