Passover Through the Eyes of Barabbas

Passover begins at sunset tomorrow and happens to correlate with the Christian commemoration of Good Friday this year. It is the first high holiday and major Jewish feast on the Hebrew calendar. It holds great significance for Jews, but for Christians, it also illustrates Jesus as the sacrificial Lamb of God. Just as the blood of the lamb saved the Hebrew people while in captivity in Egypt, so the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) saves us from the captivity of sin.

However, no one in history had quite the Passover experience Barabbas had on that fateful day of crucifixion when Jesus literally went to the cross on his behalf. Take your time meditating on this devotional, and put yourself in Barabbas’ place. Praise God for the grace He poured out for us on that Passover day.
