Sunday evening at sundown marked the beginning of Hanukkah, the Feast of Lights. Though not one of Israel’s seven major feasts, it is an important commemoration of the miracle of light. (See Celebrate Hanukkah the New Testament Way) Jews around the world celebrate Jewish feasts, and none more joyously than Hanukkah.
But in the United Arab Emirates? Yes, even there! For the first time, Jews in the UAE openly celebrated as a giant menorah was lit in Israel’s pavilion of the huge Expo 2020 happening in Dubai, and another in front of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world!
