Today’s post is a sobering one, but one which we must confront. Bible prophecy looks to the future, based on what the prophets of God have spoken. We can also look to the past for a hint of how God responds when an entire nation or people group rebel against Him.
Sin of all sorts plagues the world and our nation. None of it is right, all sin is a stench in the nostrils of a holy God, and all is deserving of eternal death in hell. Praise God for His redeeming love, poured out through His Son, Jesus Christ, as payment for our sin. All of it.
Included among the sins of mankind, though, is one that brings incredible judgment and a degree of God’s wrath. In fact, it grieves God’s heart in a very profound way, and has been practiced by mankind generation-after-generation. The prophet Jeremiah wrote of it in Jeremiah 7:30-34, and here is an abbreviated version of what he said:
Indeed, because of their rebellion, including sacrificing children upon the altars of Molech, God brought judgment upon Israel. They were sent into exile (at least twice) and Jews were dispersed all over the world. Their land became desolate.
In America (and in other countries as well), babies are being sacrificed on the altar of convenience. Do not think for a minute that God turns a blind eye, or that He will not mete out severe judgment on our nation, just as He did on Israel. Judgment is coming.
Pause for 4 minutes to consider the similarities between the atrocities that led to God’s judgment on Israel and the atrocities we see in our world today.
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.~Psalm 139:13-16
