Rarely does one event make or break a nation. Israel survived the Holocaust to rise to greatness, many third world countries have survived following catastrophic weather events, and the US wobbled but stood strong after the attack on Pearl Harbor and the atrocities of 911. Every nation on earth has endured something that had the power to take them down if citizens gave up and allowed it to happen.

Thus, we must be careful about proclaiming the Afghanistan debacle a doomsday event for America.

If only it were that simple! Today, America faces not only a disgraceful defeat by evil forces wearing Taliban clothing, but we are also bombarded by other evil forces dressed in “social justice,” total out-of-control spending, incompetence of government, moral freefall, draconian control mechanisms, censorship, globalism, socialism, liberalism….shall I go on?

If America has not yet crossed the Rubicon, only a literal miracle of God will prevent it from doing so. While I doubt not God’s ability to perform miracles, there seems to be Biblical evidence that the chances of that are slim and none. Sure, we may be frustrated as we watch incompetent, bumbling idiots on both sides of our political aisles do stupid things! But, if you are a true follower of Jesus Christ, these is the most exciting time of our lives!

Why? The answer starts here:

Remember the former things long past,
For I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is no one like Me,
¹⁰ Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things which have not been done,
Saying, ‘My plan will be established,
And I will accomplish all My good pleasure.’

~Isaiah 46:9-10

Dear friends, the Afghani president may have abdicated his position of power, and other leaders may be failing to fulfill their role, but King Jesus has not gone anywhere, and He is still 100% in control! Isaiah reminds us of what God said! He is God and there is no other. And get this…from ancient times, before the US or anyone else was even on the world stage, God declared the end from the beginning. The past few days were not a surprise to Him! In fact, His plan, established before the foundations of the world, was established and played out!

Thus, what else has He declared? News flash: America will NOT be a major player in the end times! When Russia, Iran, Turkey and the gang invade Israel from the north, America will not be there! Something had to happen to remove the greatest superpower the world has ever known! Are we watching that “something” happen right now? Perhaps!

What incredible times we live in!

But these times are not without responsibility. Jesus taught His followers to be about His Father’s business until Jesus returns! He told us to be ready in season and out of season to share the gospel of Christ! (2 Timothy 4:1-5) He even told us to look up when we see the signs all around us because our redemption draws near! (Luke 21:28) More prophecy is being fulfilled in our lifetime than has been fulfilled since Jesus’ birth, ministry and crucifixion 2,000 years ago!

These are exciting times if you know Jesus! We’ve read The Book and we know how it ends!
