Sign of the Times: A Great Awakening in Israel

24 For I will take you from the nations, gather you from all the lands and bring you into your own land. 25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. 26 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

~Ezekiel 36:24-26

This is the second time the prophet Ezekiel prophesied God would not only bring the Jewish people back into their land, but He would also sprinkle them clean and give them a new heart. The first was in Ezekiel 11:14-20, where he also spoke another special promise…but we’ll come back to that!

Ezekiel was telling of a time when the Jewish people would return and the land of Israel would be solidly in their hands, and a time when God would plant a new heart and a new spirit within them. Another prophet, Jeremiah, states the same thing, only a little differently:

31 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. 33 “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it…”

~Jeremiah 31:31-33

Yes, both prophets were foretelling of salvation that would come to the Jewish people! We know, according to Romans 11:26, that all Israel will be saved in the day of Jacob’s trouble (tribulation), but God, in His mercy, is opening the eyes of the Jewish people even now, and is offering salvation to them.

Today, a great awakening is happening in Israel! Many play various roles, but One for Israel is on the front lines. Jewish believers sharing the Jewish Messiah with the Jewish people! God is at work there. Take a look:

Now, back to that other special promise God made! The passage in Ezekiel 11:14-20 and the passage in Jeremiah 31:31-33 both end with that promise:

Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God.

God has not given up on His people, and He is at work today implanting a new heart and a new spirit into those who believe and entrust their old hearts of stone to Him! Prophecy is being fulfilled right before our eyes!
